The Chateau des Rigaudieres is a family-run, 18th and 19th centuries chateau situated in the centre of its five-acre park. The elevated position provides lovely views over lawns, gardens, orchards, forest and the Chateau of Saumur. The Chateau des Rigaudieres is located in the heart of the natural park of Loire-Anjou-Touraine, yet only 5 kilometres from the village of Allonnes, which has all main amenities, and 9 kilometres from the historic town of Saumur. Within easy reach are numerous Loire Vally chateaux; the Royal Abbey of Fontevreaud, burial place of the Plantagenet kings; Doue La Fontaine, with its lovely zoo; the Cadre Noire, the National Riding School at Saumur; and the Loire valley vineyards.

| The Vine Room is a large bed/sitting room with a Queen-sized, canopy bed, television and very large bathroom. The Fleur de Lys Room has antique twin beds and bunk beds. It has a large en-suite shower room. These two rooms are in a separate wing with a kitchen, and they can be rented as an apartment on a weekly basis. | |
Notes on accommodation
The chateau has undergone restauration in 2006-07 and the bedrooms are newly decorated and furnished, using mainly antique furnishings. Each has an en-suite bathroom or showerroom. Rooms are supplied with towels and bed linen.
Accessibility
The bedrooms are on the second floor. The climb up the stairs is more then compensated for by the lovely views.
Outside
The Chateau des Rigaudieres is in a tranquil setting, in the centre of its own five-acre park. The park is mainly laid to lawn , with flower borders and a small wooded area with pathways. The park itself is surrounded by apple orchards and forests.
Coast/Beach
It is about a two hour drive to excellent west coast beaches.
Golf
There are two golf courses within 15 minutes drive.
Travel
Tours Airport is 65 kms away. It is served by regular Ryanair flights to/from Stansted Airrport.
Angers Loire Valley Airport is about 40 kms away. Between April and October it is served by Flybe to and from Southampton Airport.
The nearest English Channel port, Caen, is about three hours drive.
Distances
The Chateau des Rigaudieres is 5kms from the village of Allonnes, which has all basic amenities. Saumur is 9 kms to the south; the lovely, historic town of Angers about 55 kms to the west; and historic Tours about 65 kms to the east.

From the Chateau des Rigaudieres it is possible to travel to all the famed Loire Valley chateaux; to numerous vineyards which are open to the public for tastings and purchases; to the fascinating troglodyte caves which are open for visiting as homes, museums, restaurants or centres for mushroom growing. The Loire Valley abounds in lovely scenery, towns and villages, which are all easily accessible along pleasant country roads.
