Beautifully set in a cadre of calm and tranquillity within a small hamlet of 5 houses. A 10 x 5 metre swimming pool with children's section has been installed. Alternatively there is a lake at Puivert with a sandy beach and is only minutes away. You can swim in clear blue water with a view of the Cathar castle surrounded by mountains. The house has a summer kitchen/barbecue area and an acre of garden together with 15 acres of woodland to walk-in. Chalabre, our nearest town with shops and restaurants is just 10 minutes drive away or why not cycle along the old railway track. Cycles are available to hire nearby.

Changeover day is Saturday. Arrive after 4 pm and departure before 10am.

Accessibility
Unfortunately because of stairs and hilly location it is not suitable for wheelchair access.
Outside
The large garden and croquet lawn are perfect for children (of all ages) and for summer 2008 we will have a large 10m x 5m private pool with children's section facing west for all day sun. The summer kitchen and barbecue area is perfect for alfresco meals.
Coast/Beach
The Med beaches can be reached within an hour and a half drive.
Skiing
Les Mont d'Olmes ski resort is within 45 mins drive. It has restaurants and bars. A small resort with two black runs and a very easy nursery slope for the novice.
Travel
Carcassone is 40 mins drive away and has flights from East Midlands, Stansted, Liverpool and Dublin. Car hire is essential.
Distances
Chalabre is 8km away. Mirepoix is 20km with its weekly market. Rennes le Chateau (remember the film The Da Vinci Code?) is close by and the view is fabulous.
Further details
Chateau Chalabre has weekly medieval jousting sessions and old crafts on display such as armour making and leather saddles. Banks, shops and bars can be found here as well. Larger supermarkets are to be found in Mirepoix or Lavelanet. Puivert just 3km has a bar/restaurant and a weekly Wednesday evening market in summer. During summer lots of villages have different festivals almost every night of the week its just choosing which one to go to!
Booking notes
25% deposit is taken at time of booking with total payment 4 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of €300 is required and is refunded after departure.
