Petit Pourquet is peacefully situated in the gently rolling vine covered countryside of the Cotes de Duras, in the Lot et Garonne, South West France. Close to the hilltop town of Duras is St Sernin and the farmstead of Petit Pourquet, an ancient group of farm buildings in a most wonderful setting, with splendid views across meadows and woods to the hills beyond. At Petit Pourquet you can relax in peace and tranquillity, with complete freedom to walk and explore its interesting old buildings, meadows and woods. There is a circular above ground pool, seven meters in diameter, which blends perfectly into the rural landscape. Both the farmhouse and cottage have been carefully and sympathetically renovated into holiday accommodation. Set apart from the other stone buildings and with complete privacy, both have been brought up to date with modern equipment and fittings, whilst still retaining their original character, allowing visitors to conjure up pictures of bygone days.

Further details
Petit Pourquet is in quiet countryside amongst fields of bright yellow sunflowers and is ideally situated for a variety of holiday activities and there are lots of things to see and do. A leisurely walk down the valley is the Lac de Castelgaillard, set in the St Sernin country park with its sandy beaches, bar and restaurant. The nearby town of Duras, typically French and unspoilt, has a weekly street market with stalls selling colourful local produce. There are shops for everything, with pavement bars in the square and an ancient chateau with a fascinating museum of French life in the past. Throughout the summer season there are many events that take place such as the Duras wine festival, an antique fair and a spectacular firework extravaganza set to music with the chateau as its backdrop. All around are family run vineyards, where you can visit to taste and buy their wines. There are many interesting historic towns and villages, all within about half an hours drive. Further afield, you can visit the medieval town of St. Emilion and sample some of its famous wines. On the Dordogne River is Bergerac, visit the old town to find the statue of Cyrano de Bergerac.

Guest comments
Had an absolutely superb stay at Petit Pourquet. Just the type of place we love. Quiet and lovely countryside. Returning home extremely relaxed. Definitely don't want to leave but look forward to returning next year. Jane Cornwell - Lancashire.

This was one of those places that you go to and within 10 minutes you know everything is "just right", the gite, the gardens, fields, animals, les patrons and the surrounding countryside. It's the last night and we are still marvelling about how brilliant everything is here. Greg Spellman - Northampton.

What can we say? Where do we begin? The gite is more than the lovely photograph which first attracted our attention. You have worked very hard to create an exquisite holiday home. We have had a most enjoyable, peaceful, relaxing week in a beautiful part of France. Len and Hilda Jones - Essex.
