Notes on accommodation
No smoking inside the cottage please. This cottage is our holiday home too and we hope that you will treat it with care. It is cosy and welcoming, with the rustic charm of a typical French gite. It is warm in winter and spring, and cooling with its thick stone walls, when the weather gets hot during the summer and autumn. There is a log burning fire, some wood is available but you may need to purchase more. Please ask about this prior to arrival. The cooker in the kitchen operates on a bottled gas situated under the kitchen sink. Please turn off the gas immediately after use. There is a tumble dryer and washing machine located in the bathroom. Before using the washing machine, please turn on the water tap situated behind it at eye level. This is not necessary if only using the tumble dryer. Instruction booklets are kept in a drawer in the Welsh dresser if required.

Accessibility
This cottage is quite accessible to people with minor disabilities, as the bathroom and toilet are on the ground floor. The bedrooms are only accessible via easy wooden staircase.

Outside
The cottage is ideal for a couple but might also suit a small family. Well behaved older children are welcome but it should be noted that the garden is not overlooked by the cottage, being alongside a green lane/public footpath, and so is not really suitable for young children. A barbecue is available, but care must be taken in this area which is so close to the forest. We expect people to use their common sense if using a barbeque.
You can easily park one or two cars in the shared area which is outside the cottage, but you must allow passage for any vehicles or pedestrians that may pass along the "green lane".

Coast/Beach
The cottage is within easy distance of many beautiful beaches most of which are around 30 minutes away by car. In addition, there are some charming coastal areas to visit for walks and general interest, including Etel, Belz, Erdevan, Carnac, Le Mendu & Trinite Sur Mer or visit Quiberon where you can experience the exhilaration of the waves tumbling onto the sand to thrill the surfers and spectators alike, or you can pop down to the beach for a swim, or just sunbathe. The choice is yours.

Golf
There are several locations where golf courses are available, the nearest being at Auray, approx 15 -20 mins by car. There are approximately 15 courses in the Morbihan region, none of which would take more than an hour by car to get to.

Skiing
Skiing would be rare around the Camors area, although we have spent Christmas there when it snowed, and it would have been quite useful to have some skis handy. However, fishing is available to those who enjoy nothing better than sitting, relaxing by a river or lakeside. There are also opportunities to go sea fishing.

Travel
The nearest port is St Malo approx 2 hours away by car.
Other accessible ports we've used include Cherbourg: 3.5-4 hours, Caen 3.5 - 4 hours. Le Havre: 4-4.5 hours, Dieppe 5- 5.5 hours, Boulogne 6 hours & Calais 6.5 hours approx. By air you can travel to Nantes or Dinard both approx 2 hours away, but you would need to hire a car. Rennes Airport which is only about 1.5 hours away, may also be available to some travellers, especially from Ireland.

Distances
The nearest village is Camors: Walking takes 20 mins - half an hour; car 2 mins. The nearest towns are Pluvigner, 6kms by car 5 mins or Baud, 8kms by car 10 mins. The nearest larger towns with places of interest are Auray, 15kms, car 20 mins. Hennebont is 18kms, car 20 mins. Vannes is 25km, car 30 minutes. Pontivy (North & inland) is approx 40 mins away.
Carnac (beach) approx 30 mins. Quiberon Penisula (Beach) approx 40-45 mins.

Further details
There's stacks to do & see in the area from adventure parks to quiet coastal walks or boat trips around the islands of the inland sea that is the Golfe du Morbihan. Of special interest are the many archaeological sites including the world renowned alignments at Carnac. Pluvigner has a Super U supermarket with fuel forecourt, and Baud has Intermarche and Champion supermarkets with fuel. There is a large LeClerc hypermarket on the outskirts of Vannes and a Geant on the outskirts of Lorient, both of which must cater for almost everything you can imagine, and at Geant there are many other 'boutiques' you can shop in within the overall complex.
You can play golf or try go-karting; visit an aquarium or a zoo. You can go horse-riding, cycling, walking. You can kayak on the River Blavet or go fishing instead. Many towns including Pluvigner and Baud have a tourist information office and you can often see events advertised in the windows of local boulangerie's and other shops. It is well worth taking time to look at websites for the Morbihan region in advance of your trip - Camors even has one - where you can pick up invaluable information on forthcoming fete's and "pardons" which are basically religious festivals but are often accompanied by a fest noz with local food, music and Breton dancing. There is always something happening, and if you love to trawl around the car boot sales at home, you can find their French equivalents in the Trocs and Puces, or Vide Greniers.

For those who have a keen interest in nature, there are many opportunities for exploring the coastal paths and seeing a wide variety of birds and wildlife.

Guest comments
A charming cottage with lots of character, an ideal base for visiting places of interest: Elaine and Bruce.

Brittany is fascinating with a culture all of its own. Your cottage was cosy and comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. We often stood and admired the star filled sky - excellent. Mark and Bobbie.

A revelation - the French were friendly and made us feel very welcome wherever we ventured. We'll be coming back again. Ashley and Jan.
