Le Parede is situated in the rolling hills only 5 minutes drive from the beautiful spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre. The road out of town climbs gently through the unspoilt countryside to our leafy lane, with a stream running alongside, complete peace and tranquillity. We have 22 acres away from it all - with an orchard, trout stream and stunning panoramic views. A haven for wildlife. In the summer the area is a green vibrant landscape of high peaks, rushing streams, lakes and flora - great for walking, cycling and bird watching. In the winter we have some of the best skiing and winter sports facilities in the Pyrenees. A perfect location for touring the central Pyrenees - the famous pilgrimage town of Lourdes is only 20 minutes away. Bedroom - has one double & one single bed with adequate space if necessary for a cot (provided). Toilet - adjacent to bedroom. Toilet - adjacent to lounge. Bathroom - shower cubicle & washbasin. Very spacious open plan area with: Kitchen area - fully fitted with oven, hob, extractor, fridge, washing machine & microwave oven. Fully equipped with kitchen accessories. Lounge/Dining area - open plan with 2 X 3 seater settees which convert easily into double beds. TV & DVD. Dining table & 6 chairs. Wifi available. |

Notes on accommodation
Le Parede is available for rental throughout the year. Both apartments are centrally heated. The accommodation is on one level. No smoking inside the apartments. Sorry - no pets.
Suitable for children - who are always very welcome.
Internet connection available - wifi.
Outside
Our guests are free to roam our 22 acres of countryside. We have a patio/barbecue area especially for our guests and a separate picnic area with swings and stunning views.
Coast/Beach
The cosmopolitan seaside resort of Biarritz is less than 2 hours drive away - a surfers paradise!
A little further and you will find some quaint little fishing villages on the Northern coast of Spain.
Golf
The beautiful course at Bagneres de Bigorre is only 10 minutes from Le Parede. A truly wonderful test of golf with greens quick enough to rival Augusta - stunning views of the mountains. Lourdes Golf Club (30mins drive) is beautifully situated on the banks of the lake of Lourdes. Each hole of this woodland course offers magnificient views of the majestic Pyrenees mountains. Numerous golf courses within easy reach, including the oldest course in France at Pau - 1 hour away.
Skiing
La Mongie (Tourmalet) - 35 minutes drive away offers excellent skiing for all levels, the largest ski resort in the French Pyrenees. With 100 km of runs and 69 pistes, including one floodlit. 170 snow cannons ensure the best snow possible. A new snow park has also been introduced recently for 'boarders'. Take a look at tourmalet.fr - probably the cheapest skiing you have ever seen!
Several other ski resorts are in easy reach, eg Cauterets & St Lary. The Pyrenees offer great skiing - we offer great accommodation!

Bagneres de Bigorre - a tradional spa town with a weekly Saturday market also boasts the wonderful Aquensis Spa, open to the public, sheer luxury at affordable prices.
The town has a swimming pool, parks, tennis courts, crazy golf and a busy calendar of events - especially during the summer months. There are numerous bars and restaurants and 2 large supermarkets adjacent to the town.
This area is also renowned for some of the most famous climbs on the Tour de France - eg. Col de Tourmalet & Col d'Aspen. For those less energetic a drive over the summit of Tourmalet is something special.
The area offers parapenting, white water rafting and canoing and offers endless oportunities for all levels of walking.
Excellent shopping at Tarbes & Pau.
The world renowned pilgrimage town of Lourdes is just 20 minutes away, this town has more tourist beds than anyother place in France apart from Paris - well worth a visit.

About the owner
Barrie and Astrid moved to the Pyrenees from Broadstairs in Kent 3 years ago. We left our comfortable lifestyle and all our friends and family and took a chance on a new life in France.
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We found 'Le Parede' and knew it was for us. We both had office jobs in UK - so taking on 22 acres and 5 chickens was a bit of a gamble!
After 6 months of hard work and determination - we received our first customers in February 2007.
We chose the Pyrenees because its a great area all year round. In the spring, summer and autumn the hills, lakes and mountains are superb. In the winter time we have excellent skiing at a great price.
Unique benefits of the property
Le Parede is 600 metres high - in the hills above Bagneres de Bigorre - up a leafy lane with a stream running along side. We have complete peace and tranquility. We are surrounded by fields and forest.
In the evenings we can sit outside on the patio and just hear crickets and frogs - spot the odd deer and look at the wonderful star show with no light pollution.
We are only 5 minutes drive from the spa town of Bagneres de Bigorre - which has everything we and our guests could want. There are shops, bars, cafes, restaurants - a wonderful spa and swimming pool and almost every sport you could wish for close by.
