The apartment block is situated only a few strides from the local bars, shops and restaurants where the charm of this lovely French village can be warmly felt. The studio is well equipped for 4 people. There is ample private off street parking and a ski locker by the entrance. The mountains are superb for walking, biking etc in the summer and the area for skiing in the winter is vast with easy access to mountains. The village has not lost its charm over the years and offers a great place to eat, try the local wine and practise your French. There is a weekly market selling good food etc. Lots for children to do with a large outdoor swimming pool situated in the park. Its even got a golf driving range! Canoeing, white water rafting, biking, walking, rock climbing and many more activities for the summer and of course the winter skiing, crosscountry skiing, ice skating and husky sledge riding add up to a great area for an adventure family holiday. We love it, we have no doubt you will too.

Changeover day
Departure before 12 noon and arrival after 2 pm. Days of arrival and departure are flexible except for high season skiing eg February.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | This is a studio with bunk beds in separate area. The lounge has a double sofa bed. |
| Bathrooms: | The bathroom has recently been upgraded and incorporates a walk in shower and is fully tiled. |
| Kitchen: | The modern kitchen area includes a fridge, hob and small electric oven. There are plenty of cupboards and it is well equipped with a coffee machine, juicer, slow cooker, cooking utensils. |
| Utility Room: | no utility room but there is an ironing board, iron and clothes dryer in the studio. |
| Living Rooms: | The studio lounge/dining area has the double sofa bed, table with seating for 4 people, TV ( french tv only) , DVD, CD player. There is plenty of storage within this area. |
| Other: | A balcony, accessed from the lounge area, overlooks the mountains and there are table and chairs here. Great place for breakfast in the summer. There is a secure ski locker area below the apartment and parking at the rear of the building. |

This is a studio and we keep the cost down by asking you to take your own duvet covers, pillow cases, tea towels and towels. Also to leave it clean and tidy when you leave, ready for the next people to enjoy. |

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is on the first floor with a small set of stairs to climb. The heating/electricty and hot water is all included. The building is warm and well maintained. The bunk beds can be for adults or children. There are new duvets, blankets and pillows for all beds.
Accessibility
The village is very easy walking from the studio, approx 4 mins, and it is all flat around the village and the apartment block. There is no lift but only one small flight of stairs to studio.
Outside
The balcony overlooks the mountains and is a great area to relax and watch the world go by. The village is covered in flowers in the summer and many events occur. In July there is a Harley Davidson rally lasting over 3 days and of course Bastille day. During the year both winter and summer there are many activites within the village to enjoy.

Skiing
The village of Samoens is set in the ski area of the Grand Massif. The free ski bus stops 2 mins walk away and this takes you to the Grand Massif lift, 5 mins drive. The area has over 370 km of ski runs extending to an height of 2470 metres. The ski school is one of the best in the area and children start on the slopes at the age of 4. They have a great kindergarten in the village and an entertaining infant area at the top of the main lift. What really appeals about Samoens is the great atmosphere in the village after a days skiing. You really get the feeling you are welcome here and with the studio within an easy walking distance the whole family can join in the fun. Every Wednesday, winter or summer, there is a weekly market to have fun buying and trying your French out. The village offers plenty for everyone even if you are not a skier. Ice skating, crosscountry ski, husky rides and much more.
Travel
Samoens is approx 45 mins drive from Geneva airport or 8hrs drive from Calais. Many airlines now fly to Geneva from many parts of the U.K. The drive from Calais is all motorway except for the last 12 miles so making it an easy access. There are many good cheap hotels along the way. Hiring a car in Geneva airport is a good way to travel to Samoens from the airport and driving is good even when its snowing unlike the uk!
Distances
There are plenty of villages and towns of interest and charm within easy driving of the village of Samoens. The mountains area is vast and is easy accessed by foot from the village. In the winter free ski buses travel to nearby villages all throughout the day.
Further details
The village of Samoens has all you could need in the way of local supermarkets, restaurants, bars, places of interest and a charm of its own. The flowers in the summer are superb and the walk down by the river is relaxing and interesting. Locals relax and cool down in the large outdoor swimming pool, situated in the lovely park area near to the centre of the village. We have been going to Samoens now for 4 years and we are always finding something new. Why not hire a guide and walk the mountains and take in the breathtaking views or just sit in the square testing out the local wine. Summer or Winter its got it all and you just cannot help falling in love with Samoens.

About the owner
Hello there, We are a semi retired couple whom enjoy walking etc and so Alvor/Samoens are perfect places for us. Also with 2 grandchildren the beach in Portugl and the Slopes in Samoens are fabulous areas to be with them. We have had the apartment in Alvor for 6 years now, and the studio in Samoens for 9 yrs, and we can say, with hands on heart, that all who have been to Alvor, and Samoens, have had a great time with no probs. We are involved in Sea Cadets big time , especially as Keith is a Master Mariner, so, when we have spare time, we like to disappear with our camper van and, of course, the dog. I would say we are very much the new generation of OAPs meaning we enjoy life to the full.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We love skiing and walking and after looking after our friends chalet one summer we thought what a great place to have somewhere to rest our heads after a hard day on the slopes and mountains. The studio is just a few strides away from the village so great for bars etc at night . No car needed. Its only 45 mins drive from Geneva and only 8hrs from Calais so great access. We can walk from the apartment for hrs and, when skiing, access is either by the ski bus just along the road or 2 mins in the car to the lifts. The village is still very much French and has a super atmosphere both day and night. The are many very old buildings and a great public garden. Market every Wed so what more could you ask for.
Unique benefits of the property
Peace and quiet is what we like, not only in our studio, but the village also even though there are many bars etc. We have fitted a new bathroom and this is now a great shower area having taken a tiny bath out. We also refitted the kitchen area and there is not much you would need that we have not got in the apartment.
