The house has been designed to take full advantage of the wonderful views. The accommodation is on the 1st and 2nd floors and consists of lounge/diner, kitchen and balcony on the upper level, with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and small sunroom on the lower level. Each level has a south facing balcony with superb uninterrupted mountain views, with garden table and chairs on the upper level for outdoor dining. Extremely convenient location, being within 5 mins walk of a bakers, general store, restaurant and post office; and just five mins drive from Ceret (medieval town with shops, museums and lively Saturday market) or the A9 motorway for easy access to many places of interest further afield. A very popular local attraction is an excellent swimming lake, less than a mile away, with activities for children and teenagers and a small restaurant. There is also a separate fishing lake. Mediterranean beaches, Perpignan, the Pyrenees and Spain are all within 30 mins drive.

Changeover day
Changeover day is usually Saturday but it is possible to be flexible out of peak season. Access to the house is from 4pm on the day of arrival and departure by 10.30 am on the final day.

Bedrooms: Two double bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds. From the main bedroom, which leads into a small sunroom and then out onto the balcony, you can lie in bed and watch the sun come up over the mountains!
Bathrooms: Bathroom consists of shower, toilet and sink.
Kitchen: The kitchen has a gas cooker, large fridge/freezer and microwave and is fully equipped with saucepans, cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery.
Living Rooms: The lounge/diner has dining table and chairs for 6, comfortable sofa bed and armchairs, satellite television and a DVD player with small selection of DVDs, as well as books and games.

Notes on accommodation
Free calls to landline phone numbers in England and France are included in the price. Mobile numbers are not included and would be charged.

There is a connecting but separate small studio flat that sleeps two on the ground floor which can be added on at extra cost if required.

Accessibility
Please note that the accommodation is on the first and second floors so not suitable for people with mobility problems.

Outside
There is no garden but there is a balcony on each level, with garden table and chairs on the upper level balcony for outside dining with fantastic views, which past visitors have said is a holiday in itself!

Coast/Beach
There is a good choice of beaches between 20-40 minutes drive away. Argeles (the closest) with its long sandy beach, picturesque Collioure with its castle and art galleries, and Banyuls with its wide sweeping bay and backdrop of mountains and vineyards.

Travel
The nearest airport is Perpignan, approx 30 mins drive, but Gerona is also popular at 50 mins drive. Although there is some public transport, a car is recommended as this is essentially a country area. The closest port is Caen at approx 650 miles.

Distances
The house is located within the village of St Jean Pla de Corts. It is situated 3 km from Le Boulou and 5km from Ceret, medieval town with shops, cafes, restaurants, museums and lively Saturday market. Less than 1 mile away is the excellent swimming lake, a good alternative to the beach. Being 5 mins drive from the motorway there is easy access to many places of interest, as well as the coast and mountains.

Further details
15 minutes away is the Spanish border and a short drive from there will take you to the beaches of the Costa Brava or places of interest such as Figueres with its fascinating Dali museum. 2 hours from the house will take you as far as Barcelona.
Ceret is situated in the Tech valley and a drive further along the valley will take you to Amelie les Bains, bustling spa town, Gorges du Mondonny, Arles sur Tech with its 11th century church of Ste Marie, Gorges de la Fou, the world's narrowest gorge, and on to Prats de Mollo, 1000 year old town with its picturesque old quarter and fort, set on the slopes of Mount Canigou.
Mount Canigou is best approached from Prades, former home of Pablo Casals and renowned for its music festivals. Don't miss the spectacular monastery of St Martin du Canigou or Les Orgues, the amazing limestone pinnacles known as the Organ Pipes at Ille sur Tet on the way.
For a spectacular train ride, take the Little Yellow Train from Villefranche-de-Conflent on narrow gauge tracks through gorges and across towering viaducts.
The numerous other places further afield include the perfectly preserved medieval city of Carcassonne, and the awe inspiring castles of Cathar Country.

A deposit of 25% of the total cost is required when making the booking, with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to the start of the holiday.
