The chalet is situated in a small village, above Le Grand Bornand called Le Chinaillon. This is at 1300 m and has the majority of the ski lifts along the valley. The chalet is 500m from it’s first lift as you enter the ski area. This lift takes you high enough to break away to access many other areas and 500m from the infant garden E.S.F. and other ski lifts. When the conditions are good you can ski to the door.

| Bedrooms: | Chalet East comprises of 4 bedrooms with one en-suite shower room and another 2 bathrooms with extra cloakroom, a mezzinine in the roof with 3/4 beds ideal for children, also up there is a TV, DVD and playstation for their own space. |
| Kitchen: | We have equipped the kitchen to a very high standard for anyone who loves to cook on holiday! |
| Utility Room: | Wash basin, washer, dryer, iron, ironing board, clothes hanging facilities. |
| Living Rooms: | The living area has ample seating on 4 sofas a 36’ plasma TV with surround sound and satellite TV. |
| Other: | On the ground floor the hall is a very good size for getting togged up before skiing. It also has a laundry room with tumble dryer and washing machine, item the boot and drying room that will accommodate all wet and cold skier outfits. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bedlinen and towels are included (beds will be made up on your arrival!) and can be changed once a week. Maid service available on request. |

Coast/Beach
The lake is only 50 minutes away which means that when the weather is hot it is a great place to swim and spend time on one of lido’s, or eat overlooking the lake. There are boats here if you are that way inclined.
Skiing
Skiing is a great mix of easy through to one of the most infamous black runs in Europe! Most of the of the piste are east facing so the snow stays in good condition all season. Family skiing is very important for Le Grande Bornand. They say if the kids don’t enjoy it no one does, so a big emphasis is put on family fun. I have skied in many French resorts for 30 years and it is the best all round resort I have been to.
Travel
Easyjet fly from all major airports 1.35 minutes and then only 1 hour from airport to chalet. Collection from the airport 130 euros for a 7 seater or 100 euros for 4. It is 532 miles from Calais. This will take approx 7 hour driving time, so if you like to shop and take it easy, allow 9-10 hours or if you like to get on with it. 6.5 – 7.5 hours. It’s a very easy drive. There is no skiing nearer to the UK.
Distances
The village is a 15 min walk away, there are plenty of great restaurants, but the majority of facilities are in the main high street. Restaurants, bakers, spa etc which are typical of a ski resort village.
Further details
Price wise - the cost of skiing in the area is fantastic. It’s marketed/targeted at the French so us Brits don’t get charged for ski passes, restaurants or, hire of equipment, or drinks, like some of the more famous resorts.
Other activities are endless - golf courses, horse riding, walking, climbing, great public swimming pool, cycling (Le Grand Bornand will host a stage in the Tour de France this year), mountain biking. Paragliding is also a great attraction with world championship events taking place regularly.
