Charming 2 bedroom house, refurbished with bright colors, exposed beams and stone walls. In small hamlet, 8 km from Jonzac. Large garden planted with shade-giving trees, and a meadow that descends towards a stream. Just outside the door are stunning, endless views of fields and forests and a restored 17thC windmill within walking distance. The area is perfect for biking and country walks through vineyards. Two village pools are 10-15 min away by car as well as a local Zoo (5 min). The town of Jonzac offers numerous summer activities including international music, dance festivals, concerts in local Romane churches, weekly country market and a town-wide picnic on Wednesday nights, the Water Parc (Antilles), a Spa, Casino and recreational area (pond, horses, playground..) with outdoor restaurant. The tourist office in town offers information and guided tours in English and day trips to local cognac and wine makers.

Accessibility
The property is not suitable for people with mobility problems due to stairs.

The garden is very big (7000 sq m) planted with trees and roses; a meadow slopes towards a stream. There is a wrought iron table for 5, wicker furniture, barbecue grill, hammock and a swing.
Coast/Beach
Beaches on the estuary at St Fort de Gironde, St George de Didonne are 45 min by car. These are sandy beaches without waves, very nice beach front restaurants and activities for kids.
Travel
Nearest airports are in Bordeaux and La Rochelle (45 min). There are inexpensive flights from secondary airports in the UK to Bordeaux and La Rochelle. From Paris, The TGV (fast train) goes to Angouleme (2h15) and then a coach (fare included) goes to Jonzac (+ 40 min).
Other possibility: The TGV from Paris to Bordeaux (3 hours). A local train goes to Jonzac (45 min).

From the house, nearest shop and bakery is 3 km, Zoo 4 km, Pools in Reaux 8 km, and Archiac 13 km (with water slide). Jonzac is 10 km away, as well as the the Antilles de Jonzac Water complex with outdoor and indoor pool, water slide, casino, recreational parc, castle, tourist information.
Further details
Jonzac has large supermarkets that also sells local cognac, Pineau des Charentes (sweet aperitif wine). The tourist office published an annual magazine with a schedule of daily activities, festivals, antiques markets, village fares, fireworks displays in the town and region called the "Vacancier". This publication lists the various restaurants, from gourmet (in restored water-mills, on farms, castles, etc) to less fancy fare. The twice-weekly market has local produce, fish and oysters. In the town there are banks, pharmacies, a cinema, cafés, hospital, garage, etc etc.
