Converted in 2005 from a beautiful old Hotel building on the peaceful right-bank of the river L'Herault where it joins the sea, this stylish modern apartment is on the ground floor of a secure private residence in La Tamarissiere, a 5 minute drive from the ancient city of Agde. There is a daily market in Grau d'Agde on the opposite side of the river which you can reach by the small passenger-ferry which runs daily in the summer until late evening. Just a minute's walk away there are bars, restaurants and shops for your everyday needs, plus a larger selection of restaurants and shops in both Agde and Grau d'Agde. The apartment makes an ideal base for couples to enjoy the local beaches or travel around to visit the Haut Languedoc National Park or famed wine-producing areas in the Minerve & Faugères etc. The position of this apartment overlooking a beautiful but proper 'working' river, and its proximity to the beaches makes it a genuinely exotic setting for discerning holidaymakers.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday, departure by 10am please, and arrival time 4pm.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bathroom towels and bed linen included, and a pair of beach/pool towels will also be supplied. The property is cleaned at the beginning of each rental period and should please be left in the same condition on leaving. Dustbins are by the car-park gate. |
Notes on accommodation
We regret that as it would be unsafe/unsuitable for them, we cannot accommodate children or pets. The apartment is also a strictly non-smoking property.
The air-conditioning is superb for the hotter summer weather although it works best of course if all doors and windows are tightly closed during operation. The terrace/patio is securely protected by lockable gates, and all windows/patio doors have electrically operated shutters.
Accessibility
We regret that the property has not really been designed for people with mobility problems, and the steps leading up to the front door plus those to access the Pool outside, or the narrow patio gate to our Terrace sadly preclude safe wheelchair access.
Outside
Large excellently-maintained shared swimming pool open 15 June to 15 September (unheated). The apartment has an outdoor sheltered sun-loggia area which in turn gives straight onto the attractive partly shaded outdoors terrace, which has extensive picturesque views of the river in front and to the sea 100m away on the right. The apartment has an allocated 'reserved' space (No:20) in the building's own private Car-park which is accessed via a locked electricallly operated gate (Code supplied!) The main entrance door into the building also has a security door with a similar code which will be supplied to you along with access to keys for the apartment itself.

Coast/Beach
The local ‘La Tama’ beach is wonderfully bereft of ice cream shacks / volleyball pitches / organised "things"; it is a stretch of several kms natural unspoilt sand with we believe fairly safe swimming including some beach-guard-supervised stretches. The river running in front of the apartment plus the seawalls area towards the lighthouse are both frequently visited by keen anglers. Boat excursions are available locally to make inland visits on the Canal du Midi, or along the coast to Sete.
Golf
Cap D'Agde has an international golf-course some 20 minutes away by car; there is also the superb St. Thomas Golf Club near Béziers which is 20-25 minutes drive in the opposite direction, plus two others some 40-50 mins away near Montpellier. There is also a 9-holer at Lamalou les Bains about
60 mins away, a bit north-west of Clermont l'Hérault which in itself is a delightful market town close to the Cevennes mountains and certainly merits a visit : market day is Wednesday.
Travel
UK routes fly to Perpignan; Montpellier; Carcassone; Nimes; Toulouse;Beziers and Jet2.com to Avignon (up to 1-2 hours away). Driving from Calais takes about 10-12 hours. The ‘French Motorail’ service, with your car on the overnight train from Calais to Narbonne or Avignon can be a useful relaxed way of getting to the South and having the use of a car is recommended to fully enjoy the locality. Also worth checking new TGV train times e.g. St.Pancras via Lille or Paris
to Agde in about 7 hours!
Distances
5 minutes drive to Agde, 30 mins to Sete, 60 mins to Montpellier, 30 mins to Clermont L'Herault, up into the Cevennes foothills, 20 minutes to Béziers which is a lovely place for the markets and outdoors Lunch spots, and where Ryanair are flying into from Bristol/Stansted "in season" during 2008.
Further details
Two local bars/cafes within 200m, which also both serve breakfast! The nearest one, on the corner LES DUNES, is run by very friendly people and is also a good fun value bistro. There is a small supermarket, a bread shop, and in season there are one or two take-away food-stalls (pizzas, chicken etc). The supermarket has a cash machine and there is also one over the river in the main square next to Spar. Otherwise the nearest banks are in Agde: The nearest Post Office is to the right off the square over the river in Grau d'Agde plus a main Post Office in Agde itself of course, with a car park bang opposite it.
Whilst we have two or three seasonal restaurants in La Tama right on the banks of the river, there is an also a large variety of other Cafés, bars and Restaurants over on the opposite riverbank (Grau d'Agde) reachable by the small foot-passenger ferryboat located 75 metres from our apartment's patio/terrace. There is an additional wide long sandy beach located over there plus a couple of mid-market hotels. Leisure activities within easy reach of us include horse riding, Jet-Skis, Diving school, Golf, sea-fishing ; there's also sailing and a wide range of other diverse water sports based at the lively purpose-built resort of Cap d'Agde some 15-20 minutes drive away.
