Converted in 2005 from the well known Hotel-Restaurant La Tamarissière on the right-bank of the river L'Herault where it joins the sea, this stylish modern apartment is on the ground floor of a secure private Résidence in La Tamarissière, 5 minutes drive from the ancient city of Agde. Just a minute's walk away there are bars & bistros, a restaurant and shops for your everyday needs. There is also quite a selection of other restaurants, shops and a daily market in Le Grau d'Agde just across the river reached by small passenger ferries which operate daily in season until late evening. The apartment makes an ideal base for couples to enjoy the local beaches, the Canal du Midi or tour the Haut Languedoc National Park and famed wine-producing areas in the Minerve & Faugères as well as our local wineries etc. The position of this apartment overlooking a beautiful but proper 'working' river, and its proximity to the beaches makes it a genuinely exotic setting for discerning holidaymakers.

Changeover day
usual changeover day is Saturday, with departure by 10 am please and arrival time from 5 pm onwards.

Kitchen and bathroom towels, all bed linen included, with a pair of Pool towels also supplied. The property is fully cleaned at the start of each rental period and should please be left in the same condition on leaving. Dustbins are by the car-park gate. |

Notes on accommodation
We regret that as it would be unsafe/unsuitable for them, we cannot accommodate children or pets. The apartment is also a strictly non-smoking property. The terrace/patio is securely protected by lockable gates, and all windows/patio doors have electrically operated shutters. There is a detailed 'house manual' (in English) at the property covering how all the various equipment works which is important you read on arrival to fully and safely enjoy all the facilities. We also leave updated notes about the various local Bars, Bistros, Shops etc and always welcome additional comments about these from our visitors.
Accessibility
We regret that the property has not really been designed for people with mobility problems, and the steps leading up to the front door plus those to access the Pool, or the narrow patio gate onto our Terrace sadly preclude safe wheelchair access.
Outside
Large excellently-maintained shared swimming pool open 15 June to 15 September (unheated). The apartment's outdoor sun-loggia area gives straight onto the attractive partly shaded outdoor terrace, with extensive picturesque views of the river in front and to the sea 100m away on the right. The apartment has a 'reserved' space in the building's own private Car-park which is accessed via a locked electrically operated gate (Code supplied!) The main entrance into the building also has a security door with a similar code which will be supplied to you along with access to keys for the apartment itself. For extra 'location' info about our apartment and the surrounding area, we suggest you go online with Google Earth and key-in the postcode and location as follows: La Tamarissiere 34300 France.

Coast/Beach
The local ‘La Tama’ beach is fairly bereft of ice cream shacks / volleyball pitches / organised "things"; it is a stretch of several Kms natural unspoilt sand including some beach-guard-supervised stretches in the main July/August season. The river in front of the apartment plus the seawalls area towards the Lighthouses are both frequently visited by keen anglers. Boat excursions are available locally to go upriver and along the Canal du Midi, or by sea along the coast to Sete.
Golf
Cap D'Agde has an international golf-course some 20 minutes away by car; there is also the superb St. Thomas Golf Club near Béziers which is 20-25 minutes drive in the opposite direction, plus two others some 40-50 mins away near Montpellier. There is also a 9-holer at Lamalou les Bains about
60 mins away, a bit north-west of Clermont l'Hérault which in itself is a delightful market town close to the Cevennes mountains and certainly merits a visit : market day is Wednesday.
Travel
Ryanair fly to Beziers or Perpignan(also Flybe) Montpellier (also BA) Carcassone
or Nimes; or Toulouse(Easyjet & BA); or Gerona just over the Spanish border is 100 mls. Driving from Calais takes about 10-12 hours. French Motorail can take your car by train from Paris to Narbonne or Avignon ( having a car is highly recommended to fully enjoy the locality) It is also well worth checking latest TGV train times e.g. St.Pancras via Lille or Paris to Agde can be done in about 7 hours!
Distances
5 minutes drive to Agde, 30 mins to Sete, 60 mins to Montpellier, 50 mins to Clermont L'Herault (up into the Cevennes foothills) 20 minutes to Béziers which is a lovely place for the markets and outdoors Lunch spots, and where Ryanair started flying into from Bristol/Luton during 2008 now followed by Flybe from
Southampton. Perpignan and Carcassone are about 55 minutes. Toulouse is 2 hours, Avignon 1.5 hours. Barcelona about 3 hours.
Further details
Four local bars/cafes within 200m walk, two of which also serve breakfast! All offer good-value bistro-style food and the one in the small parade of shops(the "Le Tama") offers Internet connection. Additionally there is a riverfront Restaurant just 100 m away (The K'Lamar) which is "fine dining" and needs Booking in high season. Opened in 2010 there is a superb Deli shop selling top quality meat, cheese, fruit and veg, wine and prepared foods as well as daily cooked specials making cooking yourselves relatively unnecessary! There is also a small supermarket for basics, 2 bread shops, and in season there are two or three take-away food stalls (pizzas, chicken etc). There is a cash machine opposite the shops and another one over the river in the main square next to Spar. Otherwise the nearest banks are in Agde: The nearest Post Office is over the river in Grau d'Agde, in the street to the left of the Square; plus a large main post office in Agde itself of course with a car park bang opposite it and right next to the main Cedit Agricole Bank in Agde. Whilst we have two or three seasonal restaurants in La Tama itself right on the banks of the river, there is also a large variety of other Cafés, Bars and Restaurants over on the opposite riverbank (Grau d'Agde) reachable by the small passenger ferryboat located 50 metres from our apartment. There are also wide long sandy beaches stretching from Grau d'Agde all the way to Cap d'Agde. Leisure activities within easy reach of us include horse riding, Jet-Skis, Golf, sea-fishing ; there's also sailing and a wide range of other diverse water sports based at the lively purpose-built resort of Cap d'Agde some 15-20 minutes drive away. There are loads of leaflets and notes in the flat for you to browse.
