The preferred changeover day is Saturday but when possible we are happy to be flexible. Arrival time from 4pm. Departure time by 10am.

Bedroom 1: double bed, on 1st floor. Bedroom 2: bunk beds, on ground floor. Bathroom: WC, hand basin and shower, on 1st floor. Mezzanine: 'comfy corner'. Comfortable open-plan living room on the ground floor, beside which is the dining area and kitchen. French doors lead into garden. Kitchen: fully equipped with oven, hob, washing machine, microwave and fridge/freezer. |

Notes on accommodation
Other facilities included: TV, DVD player and radio/CD player.
A cot, highchair, baby bath, bottle steriliser and changing mat are available on request. Either house would accommodate a cot in one of the bedrooms.
Heating is by electric radiator in each room.
Accessibility
As the property is above street level up a flight of steps it may not be suitable for those with mobility problems.
Outside
The property stands in its own private garden which is shared by both houses, though each has its own outside dining area with table and chairs. Other garden furniture and a BBQ are for communal use. The swimming pool (5.5m long), new for 2008 summer season, is available for use from July to September and is shared between both properties.
Coast/Beach
Several Mediterranean beaches are around 1h15mins drive away, including Valras, Serignan, Marseillan and Vias Plages. Lac Salagou and Lac de Laouzas are also popular for swimming, as well as the natural pools in the Gorges d'Heric and Colombieres.
Golf
The nearest 18-hole golf course is in Lamalou-les-Bains 20km away. For further details, please contact owners.
Special interest holidays
Dry-stone walling - one day courses run by the Maison Cevenole museum in St Gervais sur Mare are to be held this summer (first available dates are 11 June and 23 July). For booking (necessary in advance), contact owners - the cost of 30 euros per person includes lunch. For those who feel their French might not be up to it, one of the owners can accompany you to help out. See the real Haut Languedoc National Park at work!
Travel
Nearest airport from March 2008 - Beziers, 50km (flights from Bristol and Stansted). Montpellier - 90 mins/90km. Perpignan, Carcassone and Nimes - under 2 hours' drive. Girona airport in Spain - about 3 hours' drive. A car is essential as there is very little public transport and none to the village. Car hire is best booked online as this is much cheaper than booking on arrival. The new viaduct at Millau on the A75 has cut the time it takes to drive from the ferry ports by over an hour.

St Gervais sur Mare - nearest village 6km.
Bedarieux and Lamalou-les-Bains - nearest towns approx. 20km, via Herepian.
Trains and buses from Bedarieux run to Beziers (and on to Montpellier, Carcassone, Toulouse, etc), as well as north to Millau and Roquefort (home of the famous cheese).
Further details
Leisure activities: There are tracks all around the village which are quiet and safe for walking and mountain biking. Bike hire may be arranged locally (contact owners for more details). Petanque is played on the 'court' near the property. Horse riding and free tennis courts are available in nearby St Gervais sur Mare. At the end of a walking track, near the ruined church of St Laurent des Nieres, a lovely picnic spot, is a beautiful small secluded lake where you can swim or fish.
The nearby GR653 hiking trail is part of the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route beginning in Arles and ending in Spain.
The 'Maison Cevenole', St Gervais sur Mare's museum and tourist information office, arranges guided walks etc. Details of these and other leisure activities in the area, including canoeing on the River Orb, climbing, e.g. Mt Caroux, trout fishing, bird watching, nature trails, etc, can all be found there.
Places of interest: Pezenas - for ancient cobbled streets and history, shopping and restaurants. Sete - for water jousting in summer, beaches and fine fish restaurants. Carcassonne Grottes, eg Clamouse, Desmoiselles and la Deveze. Canal du Midi, Cathar castles, Cirque de Navacelles.
Local services - St Gervais sur Mare boasts a bar tabac, epicerie, pizzeria take-away, two bakeries (one of which delivers to the village 3 times a week), butcher (also delivers), newsagents/petrol station, post office and pharmacy. A small market takes place on Wednesday mornings in the main square. The larger supermarkets are found in Bedarieux, Lamalou-les-Bains and La Tour sur Orb. There are several excellent markets on different days. Food and wine - there are many fine restaurants in the area serving excellent local produce, eg local cheeses, charcuterie, etc. Local wine regions are Faugeres and St Chinian, both of which are producing award winning wines.

A 25% deposit is required to secure the booking with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.
A cautionary deposit of £100 or 150 euros in cash is required on arrival, against damage, returned on departure.
