Villa La Testa is a modern villa located in the south east of Corsica, 4km from the village of Sainte Lucie de Porto Vecchio. Positioned on the side of the valley of the river Cavu the location provides magnificent views both down to the beach and up to the mountains. Whilst the main floor has 3 bedrooms, living room and kitchen, there is a lower floor accessed internally from the kitchen with a further 2 bedrooms and a separate staircase direct to the lower car park, making it ideal for larger families or friends sharing. Outside the kitchen is a large covered eating area - the salle d'ete - with the pool set into the rear terrace.

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds in either 3 bedroom or 5 bedroom form except in high season when the house is only available in 5 bedroom form. 2 week lets are subject to a discount. Please contact owner. A 30% non-returnable deposit is required to confirm any booking.
Changeover day
Changeover day is normally Sunday to match the charter flights from the UK. Out of season and if it doesn't clash with other clients we are happy to be flexible. The cleaners like you to be out of the property by 10:00 and not to arrive before 4:00.

| Kitchen: | Beautiful 'Provencal' style kitchen with beamed ceiling and ample tiled work surfaces and storage cupboards supplied with all equipment. Eye level oven and microwave, double sink, 4 ring hob, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer. Double doors to terrace. |
| Utility Room: | Downstairs from the kitchen the large utility room houses a modern washing machine and is used as a storage room for the garden chairs, children's toys and highchair etc. |
| Living Rooms: | The main living room in the centre of the house leads directly onto the terrace with views to the sea. It is a spacious double height room with an amazing full height dry stone fireplace. 2 sofas and dining table. TV, DVD, Video, CD. Phone (local). |
| Other: | Beyond the corridor downstairs is a large living space with an American kitchen with kettle, filter coffee machine and an additional fridge/freezer. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bed linen, hand & bath towels are provided for each week of rental - please bring your own swimming towels. Whilst a thorough clean is carried out between rentals, we do ask our clients to treat the house with respect as this is also our home. |
Notes on accommodation
We offer the villa in either 5 bedroom or 3 bedroom form although the latter (3 bed) is restricted to out of the high season. This provides very spacious accommodation for smaller parties at a reduced rental out of season. We do not offer the extra 2 bedrooms separately.
Accessibility
The whole of the main floor is level and tiled with good sized doorways and only a single step up into the entrance porch. The level surface continues out onto the terrace and pool surround.
Outside
There is a small area of grass outside the kitchen next to the covered eating area and a larger grass area at the other end of the pool. This leads round to the lower car parking area which also has a child's play frame with swing, slide and monkey bar.
The barbecue is located on the boundary giving the cook a wonderful view across the valley and up to the mountains!
There is an external shower outside the kitchen.
The property has an oleander hedge, large tubs of geraniums, bouganvillea and a couple of palms.
Coast/Beach
The house is approximately 800 metres from 2 different beaches - both downhill! The beach that can be seen from the terrace is a kilometre long and holds back a lake at the end of the river Cavu which varies in size every time you see it! The other beach at Vardiola is at the end of the bay that you can walk round in a quarter of an hour to Pinarellu for lunch at one of the beachside restaurants. Here you will find very soft sand and shallow water ideal for small children.
Travel
The nearest airport is at Figari, about 40 minutes from the villa and south of Porto Vecchio. More flights come into Bastia in the north of the island about 1 3/4 hour down the easy north-south coast road. There are also ferries into Bastia from Nice and Marseille and from Italy.
The Corsican airline, CCM, flies to Figari from Nice and many other French mainland cities including Paris. Use Air France website for CCM, easyJet to Nice.
Car hire is available at all the Corsican airports.
Distances
The local village, Sainte Lucie de Porto Vecchio is about 4km from the villa taking 5 or 6 minutes. The main town of Porto Vecchio is 20 minutes down the road. Several popular beaches are just south of Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio, famous for its extraordinary cliffs, is another 1/2 - 3/4 hour, depending on traffic and time of year.
You can drive up into the spectacular mountains in 1/2 hour or so and see the local reservoir in a drowned valley, mountain villages, historic and megalithic sites.
Further details
Ste Lucie has a very nice Spar supermarket much easier to use than the huge ones in Porto Vecchio. It also has a couple of bakers, a butcher, newsagent, garage and a new medical centre. We have a mobile baker who will call by with fresh bread and croissants daily in the season.
There is also a post office in Ste Lucie with a cash machine whilst the banks are in Porto Vecchio.
Booking notes
Booking is confirmed by a non-returnable deposit of 30% of the rental sum and final payment is required 8 weeks before the due date. A breakage deposit is requested separately which is returnable within 4 weeks following a check by our guardian. An early booking before the November prior to the holiday can be secured with a non refundable deposit of 10% which is then uprated to the 30% in November.

The visitor's book is kept in the house and has lots of lovely comments from young and old and even children's illustrations!
