This is a ‘Bergere’ style house, warm and welcoming. With superb views over hills and forests, hill top villages and the C17th monastery. Furnished throughout with antiques and objects collected over a life-time of travelling. There is a pool and play house in the garden, children are made very welcome. Home cooked jams, patisseries etc are offered for breakfast. As the owner is a top class chef, really good evening meals are available, but we are only steps away from many restaurants. About 20 minutes to the coast and surrounded by fantastic hiking. Many good quality golf courses in the immediate vacinity. This is a dream location where sitting on the vine-covered terrace watching the sun set, listening to the cigales as the swallows swoop overhead, you know you are in Provence.

Notes on accommodation
The villa is offered as Bed & Breakfast with the option of evening meals, use of the kitchen is NOT possible. It may also be possible to rent the entire house (self catering) when we are absent.
There is no air conditioning, but the house was built to keep cool! Children are very welcome, we have highchairs, cots etc. Babysitting is possible. The mezzanine area is over the main living rooms and good for some children but not all.
Accessibility
As the house is accessed by a flight of steps people with mobility problems might find this difficult, my 80 year old father in law who is blind as a bat manages, but that might just be because he likes my cooking!
Outside
The main terrace, which is covered in vines, with lovely views and is not at all overlooked, has dining tables, chairs, hammocks, barbeques etc, is ‘toddler proofed’ and over looks the private pool. The pool is not Olympic but fine for cooling off, it has a mandatory alarm fitted, but children use the pool under parental supervision - no responsibility is accepted by the owners. The garden is on different levels and has a play house and swing, at the parent’s responsibility.
Coast/Beach
We are only 15km or so from a huge variety of beaches, the vast sweep of Nice bay, or sandy family beaches in Antibes, then there are the private beaches so fantastic for people watching in Cannes. The more adventurous can find the fabulous tiny rocky bays, ideal for scuba or snorkelling. There are many diving and sailing schools, who also offer board sailing etc
Golf
there are many superbe golf courses in the immediate vacinity
Skiing
Greolieres Les Neiges is the closest resort, but better skiing is at Isola 2000 or Auron, All do-able as a day trip.
Special interest holidays
Cooking classes are run on a regular basis in the house, many different themes covering Asiatic, to classic French, Fish cooking and Japanese, to name but a few. The object of the classes being getting to know and understand ingredients, having fun putting them together, then enjoying eating them!
Travel
We are surrounded by so many places such as the galleries of St Paul in Vence, the glass works at Biot, perfumeries of Grasse etc. slightly further afield Monaco and Menton Ville French and Eze. A great trip is to the lively markets in Italy, just an hour and a half away.
Distances
Nice airport is 20 mins away. Local car rental can be arranges with pick up at the airport or the major companies are on site. Valbonne has an excellent bus service, good for sending young ones off on their own, but a car is very useful for exploring off the beaten track. A recently opened train line 5 mins drive away connects you with the coast.
Further details
All within walking distance: Valbonne has a superb Friday market held in the middle of the ancient village square and spilling into the side roads. Food, fancy goods, clothes, local products, a lot of fun. We have many restaurants from excellent pizza, to really top class. The old square is the focus with its bars and al fresco dining and no cars allowed. We have art galleries and antique shops, there is a major antique broccant the first Sunday of the month. There is a cinema and several banks, cash distributors. With its high class butcher, green grocer, Italian deli, corner shop and not forgetting the Boulangerie you can buy all you need with out setting foot in your car.

'Wow, staying here is like staying at your best friends house, the beds are made there is a bottle of wine in the fridge, there are flowers! and if like us you arrange a dinner to be waiting for you the table is laid, and the food! 'We book one long week end every 6 months. We are the Denmead Dinner Ladies and we come to cook!! Frances even gives up her room to squeeze us all in as there are now 8 of us and a waiting list!
