This charming French cottage offers both seclusion and panoramic views from its sunny terraces. The turquoise, salt water pool, also catches the sun from early morning to the last glorious sunset. La Planque, meaning literally the hideaway, is situated in an elevated position near the small village of Mont Roc. It occupies a secluded location at the end of a country lane. There are extensive views from both front and rear terraces over rolling wooded valleys. The beautiful Tarn region of the Midi-Pyrenees is an area renowned for its chestnut forests, tranquil lakes and dramatic gorges. The area is also handsomely endowed with beautiful medieval villages, colourful markets and quality restaurants. The elegant medieval town of Albi, the capital of Tarn, is only 25 minutes away by car, and offers a feast of cultural delights with its renowned Gothic cathedral and works of Toulouse Lautrec. The climate is generally Mediterranean and reputed to have 300 plus days of sunshine.

Living Rooms: Lounge with feature open fire-place, comfortable sofa, rocking-chair and dresser with English books, magazines, DVDs, videos, CDs, games, maps and guides. TV Sky satellite, DVD, video and CD player. Patio doors to west terrace and pool.

All rooms have thermostic electric convector heaters. Main lounge has large open log fire. Hot water is on 24 hr immersion heater. Cot and highchair available on request. Fly screens fitted to all windows.

Accessibility
La Planque is accessed by wide gentle steps leading to the East terrace and French doors into main lounge. This leads via patio doors onto west terrace and wide gentle steps down to the pool. Leading from the lounge via a doorway and down two steps takes you to the hallway, bedrooms and bathroom.

Outside
Large private east and west terraces ensuring sun or shade as desired! BBQ; Sun-loungers and parasol. 10x5m salt-water pool with mains fed spring water. Wide, graduated, steps at near end and ladder and water jet at far end. Alarm fitted to comply with French safety regulations. Pool cleaned and maintained regularly.

Solar heated shower area. Private garden with lawn, flowering shrubs and mature trees. All garden, pool and terraces are well illuminated for evening use. Large patio table and chairs with wind down awning above.

Coast/Beach
2¼ hour / approx 150km to Mediterranean, Narbonne and Beziers. 3 hour drive to Atlantic coast and Biarittz etc. Lakeside beaches 10 mins.

Golf
Golf courses near Albi 30 mins drive.

Travel
Nearest airport at Toulouse, Rodez 1½ hour drive. Carcassonne airport 1¾ hour drive. Barcelona 4-5 hours drive. Car hire essential (or use of) for area. Nearest port at Bilbao and Santander, north Spain via Portsmouth and Plymouth with Brittany Ferries and P&0. Approx 6-8 hour drive.

Distances
Mont Roc 1km. Teillet village 9km. St Peirre de Trevissy 8km. Realmont and Albi, 30km. Lakes 10 mins and 20 mins away. Medieval villages eg Cordes sur Ciel, Lautrec, Monesties, Ambialet, 30-50 mins. Millau Bridge 1 hour (highest road bridge in the world).

Further details
Good Boulangerie at Mont Roc. General stores, chemist, filling station, 8 till 8, post office, etc at Teillet and St Pierre. Many good restaurants in and around the area. Excellent shops, restaurants, cultural experiences at Albi and Toulouse, Castres.

Initial reservation can be made by email or phone. Next step is a completed booking form and deposit of £100 per week booked. Balance due 8 weeks prior to holiday.
