Notes on accommodation
Chalets Angelique & Pierre were built in 1998/9 and can be let as a whole sleeping 12-16 people or as a completely self contained half chalet sleeping 6-8 people.
Chalet Babar was built opposite in 2000/1 and sleeps up to 10 people. The chalets all have full central under floor heating on the 2 lower levels, which have tiled flooring and rugs, plus convector heaters in all rooms except those bath or shower rooms that have heated towel rails. All bath/shower rooms are part tiled walls and inset mirror over basins. The chalets are decorated in traditional 'Alpine' style with reds and greens, furnished and equipped as a very comfortable 'private' home. The chalets each have immersion heaters and large hot water tanks + there is an override switch for extra hot water if required. There is a cot and highchair for each chalet available on request.
Accessibility
The properties are all on 3 floors and sloping plot so not suitable for wheelchair access or people with difficulty climbing stairs. Also Angelique and Pierre have sloping uphill drive and parking area so short uphill walk to the front doors and garages.
Outside
Chalet Angelique has a large balcony/terrace facing North and West with bench seating tables and chairs, gate to upper road level behind and lovely views over ski slopes. To front on lower level is a covered parking space and 2 extra parking places outside. A small area of garden with shrubs. Chalet Pierre also has a large South facing part covered balcony/terrace having Panoramic views of mountains and ski slopes, with table and chairs, gate to top road level and area of lawn to the side (not suitable for ball games because of gradient) steps down to drive area having 3 outside parking places. Chalet Babar has a large South facing part covered Balcony/Terrace, Panoramic views of the mountains and ski slopes, with table and chairs, gate to front driveway with parking for 2 or 3 cars, attractive shrubs and steps down to area of lawn.
Coast/Beach
The lake is situated just 2 minutes walk behind the chalet and has a small gravel 'beach' where the shallow water is roped off to provide an area for toddlers and small children. There is also a water slide and a large area of grass surrounding the lake for relaxing, picnicing and sunbathing. In the school summer holidays there is a small charge to use the lake to cover the cost of the lifeguards and first aid hut.
Golf
The chalet is just 5 minutes drive from the Les Gets 18 hole golf course and club house on the Chevanne ridge. The golf course offers a round of golf with panoramic views of Mont Blanc and surrounding Portes du Soleil mountains in wooded surroundings. Available from Les Gets is the Green Club Card, opens doors to all the best special offers on the regions most beautiful golf courses in the Rhone Alpes region. Currently 18 golf courses participate in the scheme, several of which are within an hours drive of Les Gets.
Skiing
Ski in Ski out (snow permitting, snow canons on some routes back to chalet). The chalet is just 50m from the ski slopes giving an easy run down to the village centre and it's main lifts. It is possible to ski back down to the chalet from the Chavannes pistes by the lake or from the Yeti/Ranfolly runs. There is also a free navette bus which runs hourly from behind the chalet to other lifts in Les Gets and the Portes du Soleil ski area. It is one of the largest in France and it also continues over the border into Switzerland. There are French and English ski schools in Les Gets. The French ski school will take children for the day and for an extra charge can provide lunch and indoor afternoon activities for children too young to ski all day. There is also a creche for younger children and babies.
Travel
Geneva airport is approximately one hours drive away by car or it is about 8 hours drive from Calais' ferry port or channel tunnel. Car hire is strongly recommended particularly in the summer when there are no ski buses running to the resort. Also it is the best way to make the most of exploring the area and stunning mountain scenery. There are taxis/transfers available and infrequent buses in the ski season if you are unable to drive.
Distances
The chalet makes an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding areas with many places of interest within an hours drive. The historic town of Chamonix nestles in the valley with stunning views of Mont Blanc, Europes highest mountain and the Glaciers. The old town of Annecy is very picturesque with the lake which offers watersports and boat/ferrry rides, or going north you have Evian and Lake Geneva. You can take a drive over some of the mountain passes to take in the amazing views.
Further details
Les Gets is an attractive Alpine village with a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, banks/cash machines and an internet cafe. The surrounding mountain area offers superb walking and scenery, in the summer and winter seasons it is possible to take the cable car up the mountain to explore further or perhaps for the less energetic simply to join more active family members and friends for lunch in one of the cafe restaurants at the top. If exploring by car it is possible to drive over to Switzerland, perhaps make a round trip coming back alongside Lake Geneva and back up the 'Routes des Grandes Alpes' or back via Chamonix and along the valley. You can stop in Cluses and visit the 'Carrefore' Hypermaket and pick up some bargains. In the surrounding resorts, and in Les Gets, there are many gift and craft shops, you can take a trip out to the larger resort of Mozine about 10 minutes by car where there is a large outdoor swimming pool, sports complex, tenis courts, horse riding and white water rafting or you could continue onto Montriond and take a walk round the lake there, then perhaps on up to 'Les Linderet' the goat village, where you can visit the craft/gift shops, have a meal in one of the cafe restaurants and of course feed the goats. In Les Gets other activities are paragliding and mountain biking or the 'pony' club giving children's rides is up by the lake, as is the Adventure Parc with its high ropes course. Just down from the chalet about 5 minutes walk is a Le Spa Sereni Cimes the wellness centre offering a variety of treatments, massages etc. Summer clients will receive from us a Family Magic Pass which offers a discount on over 20 different leisure activities some mentioned plus the Deval karts and downhill scooters, acrobatics/trampolining and more. The little train runs from the begining of July until the end of August exploring the local heritage and visiting small hamlets.
Booking notes
The prices shown are for the chalet by the week, and the bookings run Saturday to Saturday in the summer and winter seasons. In the low seasons May, June, September and October it is possible to have shorter breaks (not less then 4 nights) and midweek - midweek bookings.
