Notes on accommodation
Large secure private garden, views over fields. There is an abundance of bird life and resident red squirrels.
Outside
Swallows and Black Redstarts breed in the owner's barn every summer! Barn owls, Deer, Hares all seen from time to time.
Domfront has many excellent grills, restaurants, pizzerias & creperies. A choice of supermarkets, boulangeries & patisseries.
With narrow streets, inner courtyards & half timbered houses it is a fine example of mediaeval architecture.
Leisure activities available in Domfront include Mountain Biking, Pony Trekking, Hiking Paths, Cliff Climbing Site, Fishing, Tennis Canoeing and Bike Hire.
Coast/Beach
Domfront town dates back to the 11th century, the first fortification being erected on a sandstone promontory, which overlooked the Varene around 1010.
Domfront was surrounded with deep moats and an enclosed wall built by Guillaume de Talvas. For many centuries Domfront castle was one of France's strong holds due to its strategic position. Today it offers great exploring for young and old, through the winding cobbled streets.
Golf
Our gite is a super base for all those golf enthusiasts who wish to visit a number of different courses without having to travel extensively. It is possible to visit at least 10 different courses within an easy drive from Domfront. Normandy offers golf for all standards at 36 different courses and is becoming a more and more popular golf destination and is now very accessible due to the motorway and ferry/tunnel links.
Normandy has preserved the charm of its coast and countryside whilst remaining faithful to its traditional and rich historical past. It is a great destination for holiday golf, and is where one can combine golf with touring, swimming, sailing, horse riding or cultural visits to local abbeys, cathedrals/chateaus which will be certain to satisfy almost any art lover.
Special interest holidays
The owners are horse riders and breeders and can direct guests to a range of riding centres nearby and equestrain events during the summer months.
With abundant birdlife this is a nature lovers area par excellence.
A feature of the area is the production of pera cider and calvados - tours are easy to arrange with tastings.

We had a fantastic holiday. The accommodation / grounds / hosts / surrounding area are all fantastic.
Colin and Joy are the perfect hosts, and we were grateful for the excellent places they recommended for us to visit.
Unfortunately, our week came to an end far too quickly. BUT, we do intend to return to Le Petit Lac as soon as we can.
Thank you to Colin and Joy from the Crossley Family !
