The gites in autumn

La Mouette and L'Hérisson each have a large double bedroom and sitting area on the mezzanine floor with a west facing balcony - perfect for sunset drinks! La Mouette also has a twin bedroom on the ground floor with a shower room downstairs and bathroom upstairs. The sitting and dining areas are open plan with well equipped kitchens and wood burning stoves. Both have an eating out and BBQ area looking out over the gardens, avenues of pine trees and fields beyond. All bed linen, bath towels are provided but please bring your own swimming towels. L’Atelier, for bed and breakfast, is part of the main house with its own entrance looking out onto the garden and pool. The bedroom has a sitting/reading area and a luxury bathroom with roll top bath and a wet room with monsoon shower.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK pounds.
Long lets available from November to March. Please contact us for details. L'Atelier for bed and breakfast: 70 euros per night (for 2).

Changeover day
Booking are from Saturday to Saturday. July and August bookings are for a minimum of one week. At quieter times of the year we can be flexible on changeover day and length of stay. Arrival time 4pm (1600hrs). Departure time 10am (1000hrs).

Accommodation

 

 

Notes on accommodation
The gites are beautifully light and sunny and fans are provided for those hot summer nights. The mezzanine floors have an open staircase with wooden balustrades and hand rails to legal requirement but it may not be so suitable for toddlers. A baby gate and cot can be provided if required.

Accessibility
La Mouette has one bedroom on ground floor with a separate shower suitable for physically challenged persons. L'Atelier, the bed and breakfast, is all on ground level (with 2 small steps) and has a walk in shower.

Outside
Lots of space in the gardens to relax peacefully or on a hammock swaying gently between the pine trees. Sun beds surround the 10x4m salt water (alarmed) pool. This pool is 1.5m deep throughout and is shared by both gites. Both gites have a terrace with tables, chairs and umbrellas. Barbeques are available for guest's use. Lots of space for energetic characters to run off steam and for endless challenging games of boule (sets provided). Bicycles and walking maps provided.

Coast/Beach
Directly west from here are the lovely long sandy beaches of the Atlantic with their magnificent dunes. The closest can be reached within 1½ hr driving time. The lovely towns of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz are 2 hours away and the Spanish border with the wonderful San Sebastian is another ½ hour. It is quite possible to go to Spain for lunch.

Golf
Golf de Guinlet is a good, pretty 18 hole course near Eauze just 15 mins by car. Auch has a challenging course with wonderful views of the Pyrenees and good restaurant. Chateau Pallane, near Marciac is a hilly course in an impressive setting.

Travel
Driving time from Calais 10 hours (via Paris). Caen or Cherbourg 7 hours via Rennes, Nantes & Bordeaux. St Malo 6 hours via Rennes, Nantes and Bordeaux. Pau Pyrenees is 1.20 mins and is serviced daily by Ryanair from Stansted. Air France flies to Pau from Paris and Lyon. Toulouse airport is 1.30 mins with flights from the UK on BA, Easyjet, Flybe or BMI. Car hire is essential.

Distances
There are many places of interest within a 50km radius. All suitable for half day or day trips. Auch, the capital town of the Gers, is 45 mins by car and there are spa towns, within half an hour, such as Castera Verduzan and Barbotan where you can 'take the waters'. The lovely town of Condom is 20km away with fascinating places to visit along the way such as; the old fortified village of Larresingle, Abbaye de Flaran, and Roman remains at Seviac.

Further details
The nearest bread shop and small grocery shop is a 5 minute drive. Eauze is the closest market town which has 3 supermarkets, banks, butchers, hairdressers, restaurants and pharmacies. Eauze has an excellent market on a Thursday morning. This is lovely, not too challenging, cycling or walking country. We have bicycles and walking routes for guest's use. There are a good selection of restaurants in the area and good daily markets, but if you don't feel like cooking or driving we can provide dinner for you, delivered to your gite. If you are arriving late you may like a simple meal prepared for you and left in your gite.

Booking notes
Please email or telephone to check availability or discuss your dates or requirements. July and August we ask for bookings of one week or more. Your booking is confirmed once we have received the deposit. The balance is to be paid 6 weeks before the start of the holiday.
