High quality accommodation designed to be especially suitable for those travelling with young children. The properties are located on the edge of a village with bar, bakery and shop - peaceful without being too isolated. Each property has a private garden as well as use of a (fenced) communial garden containing a well equipped play area. Situated midway between the historic towns of Luçon and Fontenay le Comte, a large choice of shops, markets and restuarants are with easy reach. The heated pool is designed with the needs of both adults and children in mind, with a large paddling area to the side of the main pool, is heated and fully fenced for security. Nearby attractions include the excellent Puy du Fou theme park, the fabulous Vendée beaches and the city of La Rochelle. We offer meal services for when you feel like taking the "self" out of self-catering, plus babysitting and cycle hire for the energetic. St Malo 3 hours, La Rochelle airport 35 mins, Nantes airport 1 hour.

Linen, towels, pool towels, cleaning and utilities (including pool heating May - September) are all included in the price.
25% Deposit required at the time of booking with the balance payable eight weeks prior to arrival.
Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. This is flexible outside of the peak summer period.

Les Chardonnerets (5 bedrooms, sleeps 9)

Les Chardonnerets is a converted barn, with exposed beams and stone walls. Downstairs the property has an open plan arrangement, with a very large kitchen diner, leading through into a large living room. Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms, 2 double (both en-suite), 2 twin rooms and 1 single room. There is also a family bathroom (with a special low sink - just for the little ones). The property is fully equiped with washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave, English TV (including Cbeebies) DVD, video and CD player. Cots, highchairs, stairgates and toys are also provided. Outside to the front of the property there is a private garden and parking area (sole use). To the rear of the property is a very large covered terrace, with BBQ, which faces onto the shared swimming pool and play area. |

Notes on accommodation
Both properties are centrally heated so are available to rent year round.
Although offered on a self-catering basis we are able to offer a meals service at both properties, in the form of pre-prepared meals (24 hours notice normally needed).
Babysitting is available should you desire an evening out and we are on hand to offer any assistance or information you might require.
Outside
The swimming pool measures 12m x 6m plus a 8m square paddling area (30cm or one foot deep) for younger children. The pool is heated (for comfort) and fenced (for security). The pool uses a saline sterilisation system rather than a more conventional "chlorine" system - this is said to be kinder to skin and eyes. A play area with wendy house, slide, swings and sand pit is situated outside the pool fence, and there is plenty of space for impromptu football games or boules matches. There is also a large trampoline (14 foot) in the garden.
Coast/Beach
La Faute sur Mer is a 35 mins drive from the properties, and offers a large, clean sandy beach. Other beaches such as La Tranche sur Mer, Les Conches and Les Sables d'Olonne are also within easy reach. Slighly further away, but ideal for a day trip is the beautiful island of the ile de Ré - a favourite holiday spot for Parisians.
Golf
There are any number of golf courses within easy reach. In the Vendée itself, there are courses at Les Sables d'Olonnes, La Roche sur Yon (La Domangère), l'Aiguillon sur Vie (Des Fontenelles) and a particularly high-quality and challenging course at St Jean de Monts on the Coast.
A little further afield, excellent courses can be found near La Rochelle and Niort.
Travel
La Rochelle airport is a 35 mins drive away, and is serviced by Ryanair (from Stanstead), Easyjet (Bristol), Jet2 (Leeds / Bradford) and Flybe (from Birmingham and Southampton).
The channel port of St Malo is 3 hours drive, whilst Caen and Cherbourg are 4-5 hours away.
Nantes airport (Ryanair and others) is one hours drive away.

Nearby attractions include:
Mervent Forest: near Fontenay-le-Comte is over 12000 acres of mixed woodland. Ideal for walking, riding cycling and picnics, the forest is also home to a water sports complex (canoes, sailing, etc), a small zoo and an amusement park.
Green Venice: The Poitou Marshes (aka Venise Vert) is a vast drained area of dykes and canals that makes for great walking and cycling. In a number of pretty vilages, boats such as punts and canoes can be hired.
The Puy du Fou: In the north of the Vendée, this theme park is based on the history of the area, displaying events through live reenactments of the highest quality. "Exceptional" is the only fair description! Many of our guests visit more than once.
Indian Forest: take trails through the forest up to 6m off the ground! Suspended by safety harnesses, you are able to climb, swing, slide and pretty much fly through the air. Excellent day out for all ages - all of our guests who have tried this have loved it.
As well as bed linen (freshly pressed), towels (including pool / beach towels), our service includes a welcome pack (bread, wine, cheese, eggs - home produced from pampered hens, coffee, etc). All utilities and cleaning are included in the price. Equipment such as sterilisers, bottle warmers and baby listeners are available at no extra charge.
The owners are resident in France (our home is about 4km away) and we are on hand to provide any assistance you might need.
Babysitting and a meals service are available upon request.
Please note that during peak season we only accept bookings from parties that include children. We offer special packages for Christmas and New Year weeks.
