Michouat has the benefit of being situated in a peaceful location, yet with easy access to both local and other further afield attractions. For those who are fans of local French markets, these are held in a number of nearby towns including the one in Trie sur Baïse on a Tuesday morning. These offer a wide selection of the local produce such as Armagnac, wines, foie gras, cheeses, and vegetables in season. During the summer, there are numerous fêtes and festivals taking place in the area, including the international Country & Western festival in Mirande, international Jazz fortnight in Marciac, and many other musical events to suit all tastes. Superb facilities are available both locally and in the Pyrénées for walkers, cyclists, golfers and adventure sports all year round, and skiing in the winter. Or if you wish you can just take life at the speed of the locals, relax and sit at a local café enjoying your coffee, watching the world go by.

Changeover day
During the summer season, changeover day is Saturday. Guests may arrive after 4.00 pm that day and must vacate the gïte by 10.00 am.
Out of season arrivals/departures may be flexible, after agreement with the owners.

| Living Rooms: | Open plan living area with wood burning stove. TV for both French and UK programmes, DVD player and radio/CD. Sofa and 2 easy chairs. Glazed French doors lead out to a private seating area. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Towels and linen are available at a cost of £5 per person per week. Swimming towels are not provided. Cleaning equipment is supplied, and the gîte should be left as it is found. |
Notes on accommodation
For winter letting, there is a wood burning stove in the living area, and an electric night store heater. The shower room has an electric wall mounted heater. Other heating is supplied as required by electric oiled filled radiators. An electric fan is available in the summer months.
Children are welcome, though the staircase, being open tread, is not suitable for toddlers.
The pool is shared with the owners and is fenced and gated, open from the end of April to the end of September.

Accessibility
We regret that the accommodation is not suitable for wheelchair users. The staircase is open tread, and moderately steep.
Outside
The gïte has a private sitting area, with patio table, chairs, umbrella and charcoal BBQ. From here, on a clear day, there are very good views of the Pyrénées. The garden has a grassed area with shady trees and seating, and banks of a wide variety of mature shrubs, trees and flowers. The figure of eight shaped fenced pool, 10m x 5m, (shared with the owners) is surrounded by terracing and grass. Loungers and an umbrella are supplied. For the enegetic there is a table tennis table, with bats and balls supplied.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic coast is a 2 hour drive. Biarritz and St Jean de Luz are the two main holiday resorts, with sandy beaches and all their facilities, including internationally famed surfing conditions. Further north are many miles of the golden sands of the Landes, dotted with numerous small towns and facilities. South of St Jean de Luz, a short drive takes you over the Spanish border. The Mediterranean coast is a 4.5 hour drive.
Golf
Lannemezan approx 25km.
Travel
The nearest airport is an hour's drive away at Pau (Ryanair).
Toulouse Blagnac is a 1.5 hour drive, with flights to the UK via Flybe, Easyjet, BA, Jet2.
Other airport approximately a 2.5 hour drive away are Bordeaux and Carcasonne.
Driving distances from the Channel ports are: Calais 12 hours, St Malo 8 hours, Bilbao 3.5 hours.
As the area is so large, a car is considered to be essential.

Further details
Trie sur Baïse has bars, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, pharmacies and other local shops. There is a doctor's surgery and dentists. In the surrounding area there are many good restaurants offering very good value for money lunchtime 'plat de jour', as well as Ferme Auberges where you can sample local produce. For those interested in wines and the speciality of the area, Armagnac, there are many vineyards who offer tours and tastings. Foie Gras and other local delicacies can be bought direct from the farm.
Trie sur Baïse has a Tourist office - as do most small towns, where you can find information for all the fetes and festivals, and all the places of interest in the area.
Booking notes
A booking form is available for printing from our website. Clients are asked to complete this and send to the owners, with a booking deposit of 25%. The full balance is due 8 weeks prior to arrival. If the booking is made less than 8 weeks prior to arrival, the full cost is payable immediately. A security/breakages deposit of £150 is also required. Payments are accepted in either Euros or Pounds sterling, by cheque or electronic transfer.
