Guest comments
Thank you for allowing us to rent your lovely, comfortable home. Truly lovely. We had a totally relaxed fortnight. We loved the peace and quiet and your home was perfect just for the two of us. Thank you again and hope to come back next year.

After such a long journey, it was so nice to arrive at Volet Lavande and relax in such beautiful surroundings. The house is very well presented and the enclosed garden was great for our golden retriever to play in safely. We would recommend visiting Richelieu’s grand parc (hire and row boat) and Chateau Ussé (Sleeping Beauty). A must for garden lovers is Villandry and Tours is particularly pretty in the Ancien Quarter. 40 mins is Saumur – if you like wine, you should visit one (or many!) of the local vineyards there for a ‘petit degustation’. We wish we could stay for longer!

About the owner
About the owners: We live in England and are a family of 4.2 - the .2 being our 13 year old golden retriever.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We went on holiday to France and just melted into the relaxed lifestyle and the area. Close to so much including 3 airports! We have become chateau hunters and expert tree climbers! Every time we go, we do something different or go somewhere we've never been, whether the weather is with us or against us - there's the beautiful city of Saumur, Chinon and a little further out is Amboise - a must. If you are missing the sea, there is also a man made lake nearby (doesn't sound great, but there are extreme sports there, not to mention pedaloes, canoes, boules, a park and a curly slide! The nearby markets always offer something new to eat and wear and the slow pace of life in France makes you get off the merry go round of life in the UK. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Unique benefits of the property
The house is typically French, it was once a farm and somewhere in between a school. The garden is fully enclosed, we have an above ground pool, safer for smaller children but big enough for the big kids. The rooms are very large and in keeping with French style. It is more like a home than a holiday let we're told, but with the 'convenience' of modern appliances and technology! The house is well situated near the town of Loudun for amenities but also is very central for the many Chateaus and parks in the area. The house has a large wine cave which is usual in this area and many of the caves go for miles around the village, if you are lucky, our neighbour might take you for tour of his caves, which house bats and a bar! Our English housekeeper offers dog and child sitting service too!
