Changeover day
Changeover day is generally a Saturday. Arrival on other days may be possible. Arrival is after 4pm and departure no later than 10am.

Notes on accommodation
As the apartment has a riverside setting children must be supervised at all times. There is no smoking in the apartment. All cleaning materials are eco-friendly cleaning products such as washing powder is included. The kitchen is stocked with basic foodstuffs. A welcome basket of fruit, wine and other products is included.

Outside
L'Apartement de la Riviere makes the best use of its stunning riverside location with a secluded 3 tier terrace. A table and chairs and a bench provides plenty of opportunity to enjoy the setting. A BBQ is provided. There is ample parking. Separate, secure storage is available for large items such as bicycles and skis.
Coast/Beach
L'Apartement de la Riviere is only an hour and a half from the Mediterranean coast providing a wonderful opportunity for a day trip through stunning scenery from the mountains to the sea.
Skiing
In winter the Ariege transforms itself into a snowy playground. A range of activities exist from the extensive Ax-les-3 Domaines downhill ski centre to several other smaller resorts such as Ascou and Goulier. Plateau de Beille the biggest cross country ski station in France is also nearby. You can even attend dog sledging school, go snow shoeing or spend a night in your own igloo. After all the winter activities you can relax with a pamper session at one of the post winter activity session at the thermal bath stations throughout the area.
Travel
Both Toulouse (Easyjet/BA/KLM) and Carcassone(Ryanair) airports are only an hour away. Car hire is available at both airports and is recommended to enable you to explore the countryside. Tarascon-sur-ariege has a direct rail link to Toulouse. The area is well served by roads as the main road to Andorra and into Spain passes near Tarascon.
Further details
L'Apartement de la Riviere is the perfect location to enjoy the variety of activities available in the area. These range from cycling, thermal springs, rock climbing and history through to many winter sports. Ariege has a host of opportunities for the active minded including canoeing, waterskiing and hiking. You can even hire a donkey or llama to carry your bags. Given the beautiful landscape with its mountains and lakes you are surrounded by nature and wildlife. While walking you can experience the magnificent Pyrenean flowers and butterflies as well as catch sight of marmots and vultures. There is a wolf reseve at Ax -les-Therme and an eagle display at Lordat as well as many pony trekking and fishing opportunities. This part of the Ariege often hosts Tour de France stages with many summits nearby. For cyclists keen on lesser gradients there are many lovely valleys to explore with mountain bike and road bike hire readily available. The surrounding area is well known for its caves and grottes. Lombrives is the largest in Europe. Labouiche has an underground river with boat trips. Niaux has the world renowned prehistoric cave paintings. There are many castles to explore, some linked to the Cathar religion such as Montsegur and Roquefixade. No visit to the Ariege would be complete without sampling the wonderful local cuisine and visiting the markets to sample the local cheeses, sausage and honey. Ariege likes to party and has many fetes and festivals throughout the year such as the Foix Jazz Fextival and the Latin American Music Festival that takes place in July each year at Tarascon.
