Built about 4 years ago the development of Rochmarine in the exquisite Bay of Miramar/La Figuerette is made up of small groups of apartments, not high rise monstrosities and this particular one is in a group of three duplexes with dominant vies of the sea. The domaine has a secure entrance gate, well-maintained general garden areas and a beautiful lost-edge pool. The area of Miramar is still quite unspoilt and adjoins the magnificent Esterel coast with the rugged red rocks and the National Parkland where there are cycle paths, walks and uninhibited views from the heights of Notre Dame d'Afrique so that you can see across to Cannes and Cap d'Antibes as well as the Esterel bays. Situated approximately 10 kilometres from Mandelieu, the nearest motorway exit, travelling to all inland sights and into the Var and Luberon or equally in the other direction to Monaco or Northern Italy is very easy. The area of Mirama has a sandy bay with excellent local restaurants and one general store.

Bedrooms: Bedrooms are on the lower floor. A king-size double, fitted wardrobes and access to the lower terrace with sea views. 2nd bedroom has bunks beds full size with lower bed also a double and the upper part a single. Extra sleeping convertible sofa in salon.
Bathrooms: WC and basin on entrance level. Bathroom with shower over bath and vanity unit on lower floor adjacent to the 2 bedrooms as well as a separate shower room with basin and WC. All newly-fitted in blue and white.
Kitchen: Kitchen is American style open to the salon with breakfast bar and high stools. Electric oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge with ice cube compartment. Units in blue and tan.
Living Rooms: Salon open from the kitchen has large exterior balcony with retractable blind/canopy and exterior furniture for outdoor dining and relaxing. Inside the salon there are two convertible sofas, pine table and chairs for interior dining, TV, DVD.
Other: The main advantage of the apartment is its position with full south-facing sea views and the proximity to the Mediterranean.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Linen and towels can be hired at £18 per person. Maid service can also be arranged and the end-of-stay cleaning is included. All guests are met on arrival by English speaking local manager and looked after during the holiday.

 

Notes on accommodation
Since there are steps up to the apartment from the parking area and also an internal staircase, the apartment is not suitable for wheelchairs or people with problems of mobility. Children are welcome and during the high season there are usually many other families taking their vacation at the same time. Should a family wish to rent the apartment with another family, then adjacent to this one is another duplex that also sleeps 6, making it ideal for two families to be together, but also independent.

Outside
The gardens are communal and all well-tended. The main communal area is the pool and terraces. External to the apartment the lower terrace from both bedrooms has sea views as well as the large open terrace off the salon on the upper floor.

Coast/Beach
The local beach is within walking distance....sandy and pretty with water sports here or in Théoule itself 4 kilometres away. There are many coves all along the Esterel coast, some pebbly and rocky, others sand crescents. Facilities abound from sailing, diving, water skiing, parasailing etc. as well as the fun donuts or inflated caterpillars pulled by speed boats. Trips along the coast are interesting and pleasure boats leave from Théoule, Cannes and St Raphaël, some going to St Tropez.

Golf
Within a short drive there are many very good standard golf courses, in Mandelieu 2, Mougins 2, Valescure, Opio/Valbonne etc.

Skiing
Skiing is found locally in Auron, Isola 2000 and Valberg and day trips are feasible. Ski schools and instructors for all levels and articial snow canons in case of a lack during the season. slopes normally open late December till March or sometimes even Easter. From the apartment the drive is just under 2 hours to the nearest slopes.

Travel
The closest airport is Nice, with a smaller one for private planes at mandelieu. Marseill is about one hour 40 minutes' drive away. If coming by car the trip from Calais or one of the other French Channel ports will take about 12 hours.

Distances
There are so many places of interest in this area: Cannes itself with Festivals and Conferences,; Nice 40 mins away; Mougins, home to artists; St Tropez for the chic and outrageous; Monaco for the special trip to the Casino or Café de Paris; inland to Gourdon and some superb scenery; the vineyards of the Var and Luberon; the Gorge de Verdun; Grasse and the perfumeries; the Iles de Lérins and even the ferry to Corsica; Northern Italy for its markets in Ventimiglia and San Remo.

Further details
There is one local general store otherwise shopping is in Théoule village where there is an excellent bakery, or back to Mandelieu for a larger weekly shop. Boutiques and window-shopping is best in Cannes, Juan les Pins or Nice. Art galleries abound in Antibes, Mougins and St Paul. There are also many Michelin starred restaurants in the area as well as an abundance of others specialising in fish, grills and typical French cusine.
For banks, each high street has plenty with cash points at evry turn. Nearest cash points to the apartment are in the village of Théoule and the La Napoule.
Leisure activities include everything for all ages and fitness levels. Scuba diving, snorkeling, water-skiing, wind-surfing, sailing, tennis, squash, walking, rambling, mountain-biking or the French pastime of racing as in the Tour de France. Para-gliding, para-sailing, climbing, canyoning, horse-riding, snow-skiing, or maybe try the Via Ferrata. There is no shortage of sports and activities.

Booking notes
Bookings can be made with a 25% deposit payment of the full rental price. For single weeks there may be a supplement to pay. Balances are due 8 weeks prior to arrival date. A security deposit will be required.
