Sitting by the shade of a beautiful lime tree, or in French, Le Tilleul, this restored 18th century stone cottage has 3 bedrooms, living room and dining area, fully-equipped newly fitted Hygena kitchen including stainless steel appliances, fridge/freezer, and shower room with toilet. The gite has an outside dining area set in the secluded courtyard garden with lovely views west of the surrounding fields and beautiful sunsets. |

Notes on accommodation
All the gites are newly finished and are fitted out to the highest standards - as seasoned Giters we included all the things we would have liked to find on a self-catering holiday.
All the gites are suitable for families from Grandma and Pa to small babies (we have cots, highchairs and stairguards available).
Le Poirier and Le Tilleul are particularly suited to those with limited mobility as both have bedrooms on the ground floor.
The gites share a large and well equipped games room with table tennis, table football, darts and board games.

Outside
Each gite has it's own terrace or patio with barbeque equipment, quality wooden outside dining furniture.
The 5 acres of gardens and pasture is great for kids to run around in a safe and traffic free environment.
We also provide outside games equipment such as badminton, volleyball and football. There is also a full sized boules alley complete with equipment.
The shared pool is a 10m x 5m saltwater system and is surrounded by a large enclosed paved area with loungers and parasols and shady cabana. It is also alarmed for you and your family's safety.
Coast/Beach
We are as close as 1 hour and 15 minutes' drive from some of the most spectacular stretches of Atlantic coastline, from the sandy, family-friendly resorts of Châtelaillon, and Royan, to the quieter beaches on the Île de Ré and the Île d'Oléron in Charente-Maritime.
Sand dune and surf-lovers shouldn't miss the fabulous, unspoilt beaches along the Vendée coast, south of Les Sables d'Olonne about 2 hours drive.
Golf
Following the recent successes in French and European golf, the sport is becoming increasingly popular in France. These golf courses are less than an hour's drive away from Les Cygnes and are open all year round:
The Golf Club de Niort in Niort - 6 and 18-hole courses.
Formule Golf le Petit Chêne in Mazière-en-Gâtine - 6 and 18-hole courses.
Golf Club Château des Forges in Les Forges - three different 9-hole courses.
Le Golf de l'Hirondelle in Angoulême - 18-hole course with views overlooking the cathedral.
Special interest holidays
In the village is the premiere horse riding centre in the area. we have negotiated special rates for our guests, this covers all from a hack in the countryside or a full weeks tuition.
Travel
Ryanair fly regularly from London Stansted to Poitiers 45 miles, La Rochelle or Limoges, also Liverpool and East Midlands to Limoges and East Midlands and Shannon to Nantes.
The Eurostar goes from London Waterloo to Paris Gare du Nord. The TGV leaves from Paris Montparnasse for Poitiers and the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
We are a 6.5 hour drive from Calais, 5.5 - 6 hours from Cherbourg, 5 hours from Caen, 4 hours from St Malo and 4.5 hours from Le Havre.

We are ideally located in south Deux-Sèvres, on the doorstep of the Vienne, Charente and Charente-Maritime regions of Poitou-Charentes. Therefore visitors of all age groups will be spoilt for choice of things to see and do.

We are now taking reservations for 2010 for only £50 initial deposit. Bookings are from Friday 4.00 pm to Friday 10.00 am
If we are able to accommodate your requirements, we ask that you complete and return a booking form, together with a non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total cost, within 7 days of your provisional booking, in order to secure a reservation.

About the owner
I'm Graeme Swan and with Graziella, my wife, we own Les Cygnes Gites. Before we decamped to the Deux Sevres department we lived in London, me for 17 years, I'm originally Scottish, and Graz for all her life. It just seemed like a good opportunity to have a change of life style, and it's been well worth it.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The area around Chef Boutonne is lovely gentle rolling farmland and is perfect for a get away from it all holiday, but with the closeness of lots of large towns and attractions, and it's easy access from the UK.
Unique benefits of the property
Like many people we are extremely concerned about the protection of the environment. We are helping guests to reduce their travel carbon footprint by planting trees, which will over time absorb their carbon dioxide emissions.
