Distances
Murviel Les Beziers is 30 minutes from beautiful sandy beaches and 15 minutes inland to the foothills of the Massif Central. The surrounding area abounds in history, including prehistoric sites, Roman ruins and Cathar castles. The village lies between beautiful Montpellier and ancient Carcassonne, each 45 minutes by car. The nearby Mediterranean coast is famous for its abundant seafood and shellfish. The tree lined Canal du Midi is just 15 minutes by car.
Further details
The village has many fetes and festivals during the summer, the most famous of which is the 'Petetas' – during the months of July and August, the shopkeepers and tradesmen (and many local residents) adorn their shops, properties and pavements with life-size dolls of their trade and profession. It is great fun and well worth seeing. Attractions include the charming town of Sete with its canals and water jousts, the Pont du Gard and the Roman splendour of nearby Nimes. Only 20 mins away is the bustling renaissance town of Pezanas, a major antiques centre which also has a twice–weekly outdoor market. Close by you will find spectacular mountain walks, local golf courses, salt and fresh water fishing. The Orb river can be found 5 mins from the village. Superb regional food, plentiful wine, clustered villages and sandy beaches make this the perfect holiday destination.
Guest comment - Bob Cortright July 2007
At your lovely house we were astounded by the beauty and convenience of the well appointed interior. And of course by the charm of the courtyard. Another outstanding feature was the ability for all of the members of our party to find everything in the town so close at hand and so friendly. My Saudi grand-daughters are quite sheltered but traipsed to the coffee shop and patisserie unescorted after their first day in town. Our last evening at Murviel les Beziers was July 13 and we were delighted to walk with the children's parade around town and doubly delighted with the Bastille Day Eve fireworks that seemed to be staged for our benefit behind the church tower as viewed from your courtyard.

What a great honour to be the first quests in such a lovely house – we found it very comfortable and well equipped and spent a lot of time on the sunny terrace. We look forward to returning to this delightful area to see and do all the things we never seemed to have time for. However we did have time for the following: Oysters in Bouzigues, Pezanas Market, Brocante at Marseilllan Plage – every weekend, St Guilhem Le Desert – a most beautiful village, Roquebrun – beside River Orb (with beach), Vieussan – just up road from Roquebrun, Olargues, Beziers, Capestang- by the Canal du Midi. Happy Holidays!

We enjoyed a brilliant spring break in superb accommodation. Digestifs on the terrace were enhanced by “Madam” from the Marie advertising fresh fish and lost dogs! Bon ambience……
