Our recently restored 200yr old farmhouse lies on the edge of a sleepy village, and retains much of its original character. It is ideal for a relaxing break, or as a base to discover the delights of the surrounding area. Traditional in style, you will love the feel of the exposed beams and light and airy rooms. Outside we have a shaded area dedicated to younger visitors, within sight of the swimming pool, which is fenced for maximum safety. We have a one-bed and a two-bed gîte which can be interlinked by an adjoining door, to create 3 bedroomed accommodation. Our gîtes each have an outdoor eating area with stone BBQ, and our land is bordered by farmland, where sunflowers are usually grown. From here, you can easily reach Cognac, Saintes and La Rochelle to the north, go west to the glorious beaches of Royan and the Atlantic coast, or south to Bordeaux and St Emillion. There is so much to do in the area, most visitors don’t manage to see everything they had wanted to in one trip!

Further details
The local market town of Jonzac, has a full range of shops, banks and supermarkets. There is an excellent choice of restaurants, within 15 minutes drive. Between them, the local towns of Jonzac and Montendre hold fresh markets four days a week, and in fact there is a market somewhere near us, every day of the week - including Sundays.
Jonzac (10 mins) is a stunning medieval town, with an imposing 15th-century château. In addition it has thermal baths whose treatments are extensive, and whose waters have been recognised for their effectiveness in treating various complaints. The local swimming complex has a water slide, tropical lagoon, wavepool, bubble spas and saunas.
In our local village is a heated open-air pool, with separate shallow bath for little 'uns. It is set in a small wooded area on the edge of the village, and enjoys glorious views of the surrounding countryside.
This area benefits from an excellent sunshine record and has similar weather to the south east coast of France. Outside of the main June, July, August and September holiday periods it can be very pleasant, warm and surprisingly sunny. Because of this, many of the adult attractions are open at least from Easter to the end of October, if not all year round. There are so many things to see and do, it would be impossible to list them all, however if you have a particular interest in architecture, fishing, horse-riding, museums, food, cognac, or anything else, please let us know, and we can provide you with guidance and information to help you plan your holiday if you should wish. Alternatively, if you simply want to relax and breathe in the clean air of French countryside, then you can do so in great comfort. People ask about the time difference here - we answer that it isn't 1 hour, but 25 years!
