Changeover day
Changeover day usually Sunday but please call to see if long weekends or midweeks are available. Obviously easier to be flexible outside main holidays! Arrival time usually 4pm and departure 10am but if can be flexible we will be!

Notes on accommodation
The height of the single mezzanine makes it unsuitable for children under 6 years.
Accessibility
Unsuitable for wheelchair access - 2 flights of wide stairs.
Outside
Full length secure balcony with table/chairs, loungers and heater.
Golf
Golf course in Chamonix approx 10 mins drive - in summer course in Evian also popular - 1 hour.
Skiing
The ski bus stops outside the apartment although Chamonix is a resort best enjoyed with a car due to the diversity of the 5 ski areas. Please note that the 5 areas are not linked by the lift system with the exception of Brevant-Flegere. Skiing at the Brevant is 5 mins by car/bus and the furthest at Le Tour approx 20 mins from town centre.
Travel
Geneva transfer is 1 hour (comfortably). Transfers can be booked on the internet at about 25 euros each way. A car can be very useful, always hire from the Swiss side.

Chamonix town centre 1km on the flat.
Further details
Chamonix is a true Alpine town - it is not a purpose built ski resort and it retains many original features. The shops and restaurants are numerous and varied. Well known for the apres ski as much as the skiing. Within the apartment you will find a running commentry on the places we have tried and other people who have stayed - if you go please add your comments! They really help!

About the owner
I have had the apartment for about 6 years now. I have great friend who moved out there and foolishly I once mentioned over lunch that I was thinking of buying a place..... suffice to say that by the time I left 2 days later I had signed!!
It has been the best decision ever. My friend still lives around the corner (hence can rent it as she looks after it for me) and we get out as often as we can. I work as a barrister and the mountains are a great change from the court room.
It is very much a home from home and (touch wood) everyone who has gone there has treated it and enjoyed it as just that.
Apologies in advance for the girlie DVD collection (my other half tells me I have to say that!). actually, he has intervened so the balance is restored!
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
I bought just outside the town centre as I was tipped off about the noise at night when it is busy! The apartment overlooks the river and it is peaceful but its a flat walk into the town so a stroll in at night is nice.
I tend to take it for granted now but the view is spectacular - the glacier it literally right in front of you. It just inspires you to open pour a glass of wine and stay in looking at it!
Unique benefits of the property
The underground parking is a must in the winter. Call me lazy but I am just not into getting up 20 mins earlier to defrost the car.
And .... an open fire just makes the aching bones feel better after a days skiing.
