Ideal for families due to proximity to children's nursery slopes and ski school. Also perfect for couples and small groups wanting to explore the 650km of slopes in winter and hiking and biking trails in summer.
Accessibility
Access to the ground floor apartment is via stairs - unfortunately no lift is available.

Coast/Beach
Within 1km of an alpine lake for fishing and diving. Lake Geneva is 40 mins by car - perfect for sailing in the summer. 40 mins from a Swiss Spa retreat. Three hours from the Cote d'Azur!
Golf
World famous golf course at Evian (overlooking Lac Leman) is a one hour drive from Chatel.
Skiing
Forming part of the immense Portes du Soleil, a consortium of 14 ski villages ranging from the internationally recognized (Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets) to unspoilt hamlets, Châtel offers skiers and boarders access to 650 km of piste and 29 ski lifts.
The apatment is directly opposite the nursery school slopes and a 5 minute walk from the challenging Linga slopes. Alternatively, you can either drive or catch the free ski bus (which stops outside the apartment) to Pre la Joux (5/10 mins away). This area is excellent for beginners and provides a rapid link to Avoriaz and it's 2800 m high slopes.
Travel
For self-drive, Calais is 9 hours away. For those that fly, Chatel is 60 - 90 mins from Geneva airport. Car hire is recommended as it can often work out cheaper than an airport transfer.
Buses are also available from Geneva bus station. Train to Aigle (CH) or Thonon-les-Bains (FR).
Distances
A short stroll to the local bakery, ski hire shop, supermarket, slopes and restaurants. 1km from Chatel town centre with a free ski bus running throughout the day. 5 mins drive to Abondance village or Switzerland.
Less than an hour's drive to Thonon-les-Bains, Lake Geneva, Morzine, and Annecy. Geneva, Lausanne, Chamonix and Italy are just over an hour away.
Further details
Walking.
There are more than 65km of footpaths in and around Chatel and over 300km of well marked trekking routes in the Portes du Soleil. Recommended is the Lac de Vonnes and the woods surrounding it, the meadows and farms lower down the valley. Stopping off at one of the many local farms or cheeseries to taste local produce is a must!
Mountain biking.
Chatel is a very popular mountain biking resort in the summer with over 24 lifts open giving access to 580km of marked cycle tracks in the Portes Du Soleil. Bikes and equipment can be hired from the nearby ski/bike shop 2 minutes away. Contact James at Vertical Horizons.
White Water rafting.
White water rafting is done on the river Dranse. A team of well organised and professional instructors will ensure that you have a safe but thrilling day out. While you are here you can also try canyoning, white water swimming, canoeing and paragliding.
Fantasticable.
This is unique to Chatel, there are 2 fantasticable lines stretching over Plaine Dranse. Open every day from March this is truly and incredible experience where you will reach speeds of up to 100 kmh.
Horse riding.
If you wish to see the mountains on horse back then this can also be organised through the local stables.
Sailing
We would also highly recommend a day trip down to Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) for a day's sailing. The nearest school is in Thonon-les-Bains (40 mins away).
Booking notes
A 10% non-refundable deposit is requested at the time of booking. The final balance is due 4 weeks before the commencement of your holiday. In addition a £50 security deposit is required which will be returned provided the apartment is left clean and without damage. Payments can be made directly into our bank account, via internet banking, or by cheque (made payable to Mr C. Bullock).
