Sheila and Dan would like to welcome you to Fraysse Haut, our home of 11 years and the perfect location for a relaxing 'away-from-it-all' holiday in the Lot department. Guest accommodation is in the converted barns overlooking the sunny courtyard: the Barn, the Tower and the Bread house. We live separately in the main house and can ensure you make the most of your stay in this secluded location in the hills above the Lot river valley. A network of tracks and footpaths pass nearby, including the Montcabrier circuit. Our access is a long track, the GR652, off a quiet country road. Montcabrier village is 5 km away by road, less by woodland path. Shops, supermarkets and weekly produce markets are at Puy l’Evêque (5km) and Prayssac (8km) and Cahors is 38km. The Barn is available all year round. Our holiday accommodation is particularly popular for walking holidays and for family groups.

Accommodation
Check availability Barn (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 2/6)
The Barn sleeps 2/4, or 6 if combined with the Tower.
The spacious living area has glazed doors opening to the sunny courtyard, and a wood burning fire makes it comfortable for winter rentals.
The kitchen/dining area has a solid-pine farmhouse table for family meals. Well equipped for self-catering with a refrigerator and freezer compartment, dishwasher, gas hob and extractor and an electric oven. A cloakroom/utility room houses a washing machine and leads to a downstairs toilet and second shower.
Upstairs on the first floor gallery (mezzanine) is a large double bed and off the gallery is a bedroom with twin singles.
Shower room with basin, toilet and bidet.
The separate accommodation in the Tower has a breakfast/living room on the first floor and a bedroom on the second floor, with 2 single beds and a shower room/toilet, and views across the fields.
There is a double sofa-bed on the first floor.
The Barn has under-floor heating and is available all year.

Check availability Breadhouse (Studio, Sleeps 2)
Once the farm bakery, “le Fournil” has been converted into a character mini-gîte with studio-type accommodation. Within the open-plan living/sleeping area is a farmhouse table and chairs, 2 easy chairs, a double bed and a dressing area with shelves and hanging space. The tiled shower room has shower cubicle, toilet, bidet and basin. The corner kitchenette has fitted cupboards and worktop with gas hob, sink and undercounter fridge. Open-tread wooden steps go up to a mezzanine in the roof with additional storage space. A small covered terrace to the front of the building provides a pleasant area for meals or just sitting.

Notes on accommodation
You can see more views of the accommodation and surroundings on our own website. The property is not suitable for very young children unless well supervised. Smokers welcome but no smoking in the buildings.

Outside
The buildings surround the courtyard with a barbecue and herb beds, and seating and outdoor dining areas in sunshine or shade. There are plenty of shady spots for relaxing with a book. The courtyard opens onto the fields and woods where you may wander freely. We have a vegetable garden and fruit trees, but it is not a working farm. We have no cats so there is plenty of bird life around the house including nesting barn owls. Wild orchids are plentiful in May and June before haymaking and this is a highly recommended time of year to visit.

The walking holidays are available all year round. 2009 special dates: w/c 24 May: "Orchids and wild flowers"; w/c 17 October: Autumn fruits.

Guest comments
'We are very much looking forward to seeing you again in 2008. Val and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you and we both think you and Dan have done a wonderful job of restoring and refurbishing the Barn and other buildings.' David & Valerie, UK (August 2007).

'Just a quick note ... Spring is running riot here but so much of my heart remains at Fraysse Haut and our sweet home for six weeks, the Barn. If you find yourself besieged by Americans, you can bet it’s because of the reports we brought home of our stay with you.' Susan & Dan, USA (March 2007).

'Thank you for a lovely relaxed time during our stay at Fraysse Haut. We really enjoyed staying in the Barn with all the comforts you have provided. If we have an opportunity in the future we would like to stay again.' Bob & Barbara, UK (May 2007).
