Set on the edge of the typical medieval French Catalan village of Montesquieu, our self-catering apartment with its delightfully sunny and secluded private pool enjoys spectacular views of the Pyrenees. Our apartment has one double bedroom, one single bedroom (with bunk beds if preferred) and a sofa bed in the lounge/dining area. The apartment is completely separate from the owners accommodation and has its own access, private drive, garden and gated parking. Ideally located for visiting a wide range of coastal and inland attractions there are also many activities available locally such as mountain walks for all levels which start within 20 metres of the Apartment. Alternatively our peaceful location is ideal for those lazy days by the pool - we have plenty of books available! A two minute stroll takes you into the centre of our village where you can visit the well stocked Epicerie, have an apero at the bar or dine at the Bistro de Pays where you can enjoy beautifully cooked food.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Saturday but we are flexible & will try to accommodate any request.

Bed linen is supplied, one hand towel and one bath towel per person is supplied - please bring your own pool and beach towels. Apartment is cleaned thoroughly on day of arrival. For 2 week stays cleaning and new linen etc provided midway. |

Notes on accommodation
Information binder provided with comprehensive and wide ranging details and maps of the area, shops, markets, attractions etc. Started in 2011 we now have a new Restaurant review section in the Information binder with input from ourselves & guests. Modern fitted kitchen area, electric heating in all rooms, smoke alarms fitted. Iron and Ironing board provided. Ashtrays are provided outside of the apartment and smokers are asked to respect our no smoking policy inside the apartment. Flatscreen Satellite TV with UK programmes incl. all Freesat channels. Free WiFi Broadband available. Secluded terrace overlooking the 8 x 4 metres pool which conforms to all French safety regulations. Large tiled sun terrace with loungers, parasols and patio furniture etc surrounds the pool.
Accessibility
Although the apartment is on ground level it is not adapted for wheelchair users.
Outside
Private, secluded Swimming Pool (8x4m) with large surrounding tiled sun terrace. 4 Sunloungers, garden furniture and parasols provided. Large sunny Barbecue terrace with table and 4 chairs. Private gated drive, gardens and car parking for the exclusive use of guests. The gardens include Lemon, Satsuma, Olive and Almond trees which guests are welcome to help themselves to when in season.
Coast/Beach
Within 15-20 mins drive from the apartment there are 7 "Blue Flag" awarded beaches (current Summer 2011). This guarantees cleanliness of seawater,(5 test samples taken annually), beach cleanliness, wheelchair access etc. Add to this Artists villages, lively fishing ports and market towns - all less than 30 mins drive. The Spanish border is only a 15 minute drive south from the apartment whilst heading north you can visit Perpignan, Carcassonne & many other attractions.
Golf
Nearest golf course is at St Cyprien (20 kms). Also there are a number of good courses over the border in Spain within an hours drive. Details available on request.
Travel
Most of our clients fly into Gerona Airport (easy 50 mins drive). Gerona has become a main hub for Ryanair who fly in from 11 UK towns and cities (as at Jan '12). Please check www.ryanair.com for your nearest local airport - the list is increasing all the time. Perpignan Airport (30 mins drive), Ryanair fly in from Stansted and Brussels. Aer Lingus fly in from Dublin, Flybe fly in from Birmingham. TGV / Eurostar - 9 hour rail service London - Perpignan. Car hire (or use of car) is essential.
Distances
Beaches - Within 15-20 mins drive there are 7 "Blue Flag" awarded beaches both quiet & lively with something to suit all ages. Collioure - beautiful coastal village famous for its connections with Picasso & others (20 min).
Botanic & mountain walks - 20 mtrs. Montesquieu village 100mtrs (shop / bar & Bistro + small Farmers market on Tuesdays). The market towns of Ceret & St Genis are close by. The Thermal Spas of Amelie-les-Bains (20mins by car) & Le Boulou (8mins) offer spa treatments etc.
Further details
For food and drink we have a number of excellent markets and supermarkets locally as well as a wide choice of eating out possibilities ranging from simple creperies to first class restaurants. The nearest shop / Bar / Bistro de Pays is right in the centre of our village (100mtrs away). Larger Supermarkets / shops / banks / restaurants etc are all at St Genis des Fontaines (5 mins) whereas within a 10-15 min drive the choice expands to several villages and towns, hypermarkets to specialist markets, food and non food.
Arts - Collioure is described as the gem of the Côte Vermeille, and has been likened to St Tropez (but without the "bling"). It sits in a picturesque cove and has a very attractive port and seaside promenade. An artists paradise, Matisse, Derain, Picasso and Dali Dali figure in the long list of artists who fell in love with Collioure and spent time there. Many artists live in Collioure and there are a large number of art galleries and exhibitions to visit.
Ceret - Like Collioure, Céret was a favourite spot with many great modern artists, including Picasso, at the turn of the century. The Museum of Modern Art attracts visitors from near and far. It houses a Picasso collection of 50 or so pieces, including a series of 28 ceramic bowls painted with bullfighting scenes, and works by Dali, Matisse, Chagall, as well as the Catalan sculptor Manolo. Today the town still attracts many artists and there are numerous galleries to visit.
Wine - More wine is produced in Languedoc Roussillon than in any other region of France. Opportunities to taste wine abound, with most wine domaines offering tasting so you can try before you buy.
Local Activities include: cycling, diving, fishing, golf, horse riding, mountain biking, mountaineering, roller blading, sailing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing, wind surfing etc. this list is far from exhaustive.
Booking notes
Cheque deposit of £250 to secure booking which will be held as 'cheque de caution' against breakages, damage or cancellation. This will be refunded within 7 days after your stay. Full rental is payable 8 weeks in advance.
