The detached 'Pavillon' (bungalow) is located in a quiet residential area 1km to the west of the town centre. The garden is of a good size offering seclusion. This part of the coast is known as the "Cote de Lumiere' due to the hours of sunshine regularly recorded.

Notes on prices
A non-returnable deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking, with the balance due 6 weeks before departure.
10% reduction applies after first 7 nights.
Changeover day
Saturday or Sunday, July and August. Arrivals after 15.00 and depart by 11.00 please, but can be varied with prior agreement.

Notes on accommodation
There are electric wall convector fires in both bedrooms and the kitchen, which together with the large open fire in the
lounge provide adequate comfort for early or late season use.
Plenty of logs available in the garden shed. Sorry no smoking and no pets.
Outside
The garden is level and completely enclosed by hedges and walls with lockable front gates.
The kitchen door leads to a large south facing patio which has a full length retractable sun canopy, garden table and chairs.
French doors from the lounge lead to a secluded west facing
patio which has a picnic table and large barbecue.
There is a large attached garage where the 3 bikes, sun loungers, "boules" and other outdoor games are kept.
There is parking space for several vehicles inside the gates.
Coast/Beach
The Vendee coast varies from long stretches of fine sand mainly to the east of Jard Sur Mer to rocky coves
generally to the west. The nearest beach " Madoreau" about 1000m has sand at high tide leaving rock pools at low tide (where the locals are often to be seen gleaning their next meal).
The most popular beach "Plage de la Mine" offers sand at all tides. Approx 2000m , 3 mins by car, with free parking in pine forest. There are numerous fine beaches within 12 kms
Golf
There is a 18 hole course at Port Bourgenay (approx 12 kms
west).
Special interest holidays
The area being relatively level, is ideal for cycling, hence the 3 cycles (large gents, ladies and unisex. Additional cycles can be hired in the town during the season).
Travel
St Malo, Caen and Cherbourg are the nearest ferry ports, 4 to 5 hr drive. (but ferries expensive). The Transmanche Newhaven to Dieppe ferry is recommended, with car and passengers return fares from £100, ( 20% reduction for over 60s) being a drive of approx 5.5 hrs to Jard Sur Mer. Dover ferry costs start at £60 but the car journey increases by 1 hr. Eurotunnel similar driving time. Easyjet and Ryan fly to Nantes, about 40 miles away. Flybe fly to La Rochelle,about 35 miles away.
Distances
There are many attractions in the locality apart from the fine beaches.The 12th C. Chateau at Talmont St Hilaire (8 kms) was built by Richard the Lionheart.
Les Sables D'Olonne (20kms) the main resort in the locality has an interesting old port area and fine zoo. There is a prehistoric visitor centre and museum at St Hilaire de la Foret (5 kms)
La Rochelle, Ile de Re, Ile d'Yeu and Marais Pontevin are all possible interesting day trips.
Further details
The town of Jard Sur Mer has all the services and facilities
required for your holiday. 2 banks, patisseries, Monday market,
wine caves and a helpful Tourist Office etc.
The local speciality of the area is seafood, with fine dishes available at the restaurants both in town and by the marina.
Bands and other entertainers perform evenings by the marina
during July and August.
Local maps and guides are kept in the lounge cupboard.
