Situated in the undiscovered Lot-et-Garonne, 14km from Marmande, in a secluded corner of a small village, Peyrenègre offers you the opportunity to relax and recharge your batteries in the heart of the countryside. Panoramic views over orchards, cornfields and sunflower fields. Well equipped and comfortably furnished the cottages retain the characteristic features of this 150 year old stone farmhouse Whether you are a couple, a family or a larger group we can organise the accommodation to meet your needs. The 10m x 4.5m pool has salt water filtration (no stinging eyes!) and is well equipped with wooden sun-beds and pool games. A BBQ, ping-pong table, table football and a variety of outdoor games are provided. The rental includes basic kitchen and bathroom consumables, all bed linen and house and pool towels. We provide baby equipment including cots and we welcome well behaved pets. Available for hire is the Health Suite with sauna, hot tub and exercise machines and 4 adult bikes.

Notes on prices
Prices shown are for the property per week in Euros and are for 4 people in Les Hirondelles and Les Etables and 8 people in Les Etables + annexe. Each gite has a sofa bed which can increase the occupancy by 2 - there is a charge of 55 euros per person per week for these 2 additional places. Christmas and New Year rates on request.
Changeover day
In High and Peak season our changeover day is Saturday. In Mid and Low season changeover day is more flexible. Arrival is from 16.00 and Departure is by 10.00.

Les Etables, our second holiday cottage at Peyrenègre, flexible accommodation - can be offered as a gite for 4 as Les Hirondelles or with its annexe sleeps 8 comfortably - description for gite + annexe: Sitting room with TV, DVD, and log burning stove. Kitchen with cooker, microwave,2 fridges,dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, kettle, full place settings and cooking equipment. Breakfast area and large dining area for up to 10 guests. Reading corner with sofa bed and second TV/DVD. 3 shower rooms, one on the ground floor with toilet. 2 separate toilets on the first floor. 2 double bedrooms with washbasins. 2 twin rooms. 2 patio areas,with wooden garden furniture, leading out from the breakfast area and dining area Many original features have been retained including exposed beams and traditional stone walls. Books and games and a large library of DVDs can be borrowed. Guests have free use of the internet and access to telephone. Highchair, travel cot and other baby equipment. |

Notes on accommodation
Both cottages have wood burning stoves and electric convector heaters. The gites are warm in winter and cool in summer protected from extremes of temperature by the thick stone walls of the original barn. All windows have shutters and fans are provided for extra ventilation. We provide extra beds for children under 6 and have cots for babies. Both gites have a sofa bed which can extend the sleeping capacity by 2.
Well behaved dogs are welcome - our own two dogs are always pleased to meet new friends!
Guests have use of a laundry room with washing machines and drying areas.
Accessibility
Les Etables provides toilet facilities on the ground floor and the seating area can be prepared as sleeping accommodation. There is, however, a gravel pathway leading to the gites which would make access a little difficult for wheelchairs.
Outside
Each gite has a separate patio and there is an additional patio area for Les Etables. There are BBQ areas and extensive grounds for searching out (or avoiding) the sun's rays. Outdoor games including badminton, baby football and able tennis are provided. The swimming pool has salt filtration so no stinging eyes and is protected with an alarm and a fence. The Health Suite is available for up to 4 people and consists of a sauna, hot tub and several fitness machines. We also have 4 adult bikes for your use.
Coast/Beach
Many of the guests at Peyrenègre make the 2 hour journey to the coast particularly to see the tallest sand dune in Europe (the Dune de Pilat) in the bay of Arcachon and to taste the magnificent seafood especially the oysters. The surfing here is outstanding.
Golf
There is an 18 hole course at Villenuve-sur-Lot which is 30 kms away. Our 18 hole championship golf course is widely recognised as one of the best in the “Lot et Garonne” and is normally playable 360 days per annum.
There is a nine hole golf course 10 kms away at Tombeboeuf.
Travel
Peyrenègre is in the heart of the Lot-et-Garonne countryside and you will need a car. Flights from the major UK airports are available to Bergerac (45 mins) or Bordeaux ( I hour 30 mins) and car hire is available at both airports. The nearest ports are St Malo and Caen which are 7 - 8 hours journey by autoroute. For other channel ports we suggest an overnight stay to break your journey. Several guest prefer to travel by train - the TGV takes under 4 hours from Paris to Bordeaux.
Distances
Although a very rural location, Peyrenègre is only a few kms from local shops. The nearest village is 4 kms away at St Barthelémy with a Tabac and a boulangerie and the nearest supermarket is 14 kms away at Miramont-de-Guyenne which also hosts our favourite market - however, there are weekly markets somewhere near every day of the week. The Lot-et-Garonne is famous for its fortified towns (Bastides) and we are situated in the middle of this historic area.
Further details
We are within 20 minutes of Marmande, Tonneins and Miramont -de-Guyenne all of which have supermarkets, banks, a range of shops and a variety of restaurants. Each gite is equipped with a Guest book which gives full information on local amenities and places of interest. We are within easy access of a range of sporting activities including horse riding and canoeing and this is ideal walking country. We provide a range of garden and indoor play equipment for children of all ages.

About the owner
We are Enid and Kevin Wilson and we live permanently here at Peyrenegre. We have four children ad 3 grandchildren and love welcoming families to Peyrenegre. We enjoy growing and cooking our own food and are happy to share produce with our guests - our fresh eggs are to die for. We are both easygoing and love meeting new people and by the comments in our guest book and the number of returning families we have it seems people enjoy meeting us too. We have two small dogs who are happy to go for a walk with anyone who will take them and 2 cats who drop in to say hello when it suits them.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We needed a property not too far from an airport and also wanted to be far enough south to be sure of a better climate. We searched for a location around the A62 autoroute which runs between Bordeaux and Toulouse and stumbled on the beautiful department of the Lot-et-Garonne.This largely undiscovered department is away from the madding crowds and gives a real taste of 'la France profonde'. The people are friendly and welcoming and there is a pace of life that has remained unchanged for centuries. The gentle undulating landscape is reminiscent of Tuscany and has beautiful hilltop villages giving panoramic views over the plums and sunflowers. We have never regretted for a moment our decision to settle here and become the folks who live on the hill.
Unique benefits of the property
We fell in love with this property because of it's position. On a hill surrounded by sunflower fields and hazelnut orchards it really is a haven pf peace and quiet. The views are stunning. The property is big enough to mean guests in the gite are completely separate from our own house but we are easily found when needed. We have added a heated pool, a very well equipped health suite with sauna, exercise machine and hot tub and equipped the cottages to a high standard. The best of both worlds - the peace and quiet of a truly rural location with all modern conveniences.
