Luxury Bed and Breakfast. Built in local 'tuffeau' stone, Les Peupliers has been lovingly restored to provide five tastefully furnished guest bedrooms in its own separate wing, each with private facilities. Ideally situated in the peaceful countryside yet only 1 mile from the village of Varennes-sur-Loire and 5 minutes from the beau village of Montsoreau. The historic Loire town of Saumur is just 15 minutes away. Guests can enjoy the use of the heated outdoor pool, borrow bicycles to discover the local countryside & villages or just relax in the pretty gardens. Gourmet meals are provided by the resident professional chef using produce from Les Peupliers organic vegetable garden and relaxing massage treatments and infra-red sauna are available for the ultimate in pampering. Les Peupliers is exclusively for adults.

Notes on prices
Prices are per room per night in euros. 10% discount for stays of 7 nights or longer. No credit/debit cards. Adults only.

Arrival after 4pm. Departure by 10.30am.
Notes on accommodation
All rooms have central heating. Hair dryers, towels, linen and toiletries provided. Guests are to bring their own beach towels for the pool. large parking area.
Outside
Pretty gardens with large heated outdoor pool (10 x 5m) with Roman steps (open from May - October). Sun loungers and parasols by the pool, deckchairs under the chestnut trees, garden benches in the courtyard. Outdoor dining area, lawns and organic 'potager'.
Shaded seating area under the pergola ideal for relaxing and aperitifs before dinner. Large parking area.
Special interest holidays
Relaxing facial & massage treatments available by the owner who is a qualified and experienced therapist. There is an infra-red sauna and on-site therapy room.
Cookery Classes run by the resident professional chef during the season from 4.00pm-6.30pm.

Tours airport (50 mins drive) Nantes airport (90 mins drive) Angers airport (40 min drive) TGV station in Saumur (2 hours train journey from Paris). 5½ hours drive from Boulogne, 3 hours from Caen. Car hire recommended to discover local amenities and attractions.

1.6km to nearest village (Varennes-sur-Loire). 4km to Montsoreau (one of France's 'beau villages' with it's Chateau and quaint streets of Candes St. Martin. 8km to Fontevraud and it's famous abbey (burial place of Richard the Lionheart & Henry II). 15km to Saumur - France's equine capital with the famous National Riding School, chateau, tuffeau caves, bustling Saturday market and street cafes.

Boat trips and canoeing on the Loire are just minutes away. Wine tastings and visits to the many vineyards in the area can be arranged. Many Chateaux and Manoirs to visit.

About the owner
Mike and I first met working on the cruise liners back in the 80's. Since then we have lived and worked in Germany, Australia, the UK and now France. We have always been Francophiles spending our free time holidaying in France, enjoying the laid back life style and the culinary delights of the country. Wherever we were, part of the holiday was always looking in estate agents' windows and dreaming of selling up and starting a new life. The Loire region was always a favourite and something about the area kept pulling us back. We found our dream property just by chance on a rainy day in 2005 and have never looked by since then.

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
We both adore the Loire. The history, the pretty villages, the climate and fantastic wines, were all things that drew us to the area. We are situated in the countryside between the Loire towns of Saumur, Chinon and Tours. It is ideal as the house is surrounded by fields, peace and tranquility, yet, within a few minutes drive, you already come across Montsoreau, one of France's 'beau villages' famed for it's chateau & riverside location. Fontevraud Abbey, final resting place of Richard the Lionheart, Henry II and Eleanor of Acquitaine is just 10 minutes away and Saumur, Equestrian capital of France a short 15 minute drive. We are also in a fantastic wine region where you can take tours and have tastings of beautiful red, white, rose and sparkling wines.

At Les Peupliers, we offer everything we can to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. The 10 x 5 metre heated outdoor pool is a welcome break after sightseeing. For the energetic we have bicycles that can be borrowed to discover the local countryside and for those who just want to chill & be pampered, we offer relaxing massage and facial treatments by a qualified therapist (me!!) in the Les Peupliers treatment room. Mike is at hand with cookery master classes for those food lovers who want to improve on their culinary skills and there are plenty of places in the gardens just to sit and enjoy the surroundings. Our organic potager provides the fruit/vegetables for the gourmet dinners which are available in the evenings where our guests sit together & discuss their day's activities.
