The Dordogne in SW France is steeped in history, stunningly beautiful, essentially rural and lives life at a slower pace than most. La Rosiere is situated in the enchanting Vezere Valley whose caves hold the greatest concentration of prehistoric art on this planet. Our three gites are are to be found close to Les Eyzies in an UNESCO World Heritage Site located in a wonderful and tranquil protected area called the Valley of the Fairies. The gites are situated at the end of an isolated track with no immediate neighbours or passing traffic within 20 acres of beautiful private grounds with a stream and water source. However, La Rosiere is still within close proximity for the many and varied local amenities and attractions, shops, restaurants and markets plus wonderful bastide towns nearby like Domme, Rocamadour, Sarlat and Monpazier.

Notes on accommodation
Diana and Jim, La Rosiere's owners live discreetly on site in a separate house but are always available for advice and help when needed.
All our gites have additional heating. The Sechoir has a massive log-burner, more than capable of heating the whole building. The Villa Rosiere has a log-burner and electric wall-heaters. The Grenier has full oil-fired central heating. None of these are likely to be needed in the summer but if you stay in the Spring or Autumn, you might find a little additional warmth would be nice.
We have organised an interactive visitors' book where previous guests contribute lists of things they've particularly enjoyed whilst staying at La Rosiere. A very useful resource for all guests.

Accessibility
These old French working buildings weren't built to be particularly friendly to the disabled. However, the Villa Rosiere does have a ground floor bedroom and bathroom which just might pass muster to an energetic wheelchair user?

Outside
All our gites have private gardens with barbeque facilities, garden furniture and secure parking.
We have a large 12 x 6m shared pool (with spectacular views and surrounded by lavender) plus a separate paddling pool with waterfall. Plenty of sun-loungers plus a fridge for chilling your wine and beer at the pool plus underwater lights for romantic late-night dipping.
We have facilities for table tennis, swings, boules, football net, badminton court, swingball and pooh sticks in the stream. There are 20 private acres for childen to explore and have adventures plus hundreds of acres of surrounding woodlands criss-crossed with public footpaths.
Our grounds and the surrounding woods are home to many wild animals, birds and plants such as kingfishers, buzzards, woodpeckers, hoopoes, deer, badgers, red squirrels, wild-boar, mushrooms and orchids.

Coast/Beach
There are a number of 'river beaches' on the Dordogne and Vezere rivers which are close by and very pleasant places to spend time on hot, sunny days.

Bergerac is our nearest airport, 50 kms away and a lovely drive on a summer's day. There is easy access to La Rosiere from the excellent French motorways and road system. Full details will be sent on booking.
