Located on the hill with uninterrupted views, L'Ancien Chai is perfect for families who want a rural setting without being too remote. Bright and open plan, ground floor living space comprises dining area, kitchen and lounge with log fire burner. Views from every bedroom window. Good disabled access.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. Guests can arrive in the late afternoon and are asked to vacate by 10am on their last day unless otherwise agreed with the owner.

Utility Room: Washing machine, iron and ironing board, hoover, picnic gear and tennis rackets.
Living Rooms: Dining room open-plan with large farmhouse pine table (seats 8). Lounge with 2 leather sofas. Log burner. Bookshelves with small library collection for all ages. Monitor and DVD player, VCR, CD and Hi-fi. CD/DVD video collection. Games and jigsaws.
Other: Open hall and landing with large paintings. French windows onto patio from kitchen, dining area and lounge. BBQ on patio with large hardwood table and chairs (seats 10), parasol. Pretty bench around lime tree.

All linen and towels are included and changed weekly. The property is cleaned at the beginning of the stay. Cot and high chair on request. Good disabled access on Ground floor and from garden.

The whole of the ground floor is wheelchair accessible. Access to the garden is on the same level for easy movement into house from garden and patio. 2 bedrooms, bathroom and WC on ground floor.

Large open lawned gardens. Shrubs. Apple, pair and plum trees. Pretty garden seat around Lime tree for shade. Sunny private patio with parasol and wooden table/chairs (seats 10). BBQ. 4 sun-loungers. Fantastic views. Large shared pool (14 x 4m) with fencing. Tennis. Ample car parking. Lovely walks from the door in this Michelin-rated area of outstanding beauty.

Coast/Beach
The coast is approx 1 hour 45 mins away. There are fine sandy beaches including the largest sand dune in Europe. Also river beaches nearby at Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (14km) with fishing and canoe hire.

Golf
There is a golf course 12 minutes away.

Travel
Bergerac airport 60km. Bordeaux airport (130km), Limoges airport(129km). Car essential - hire pick up at airports. Angouleme SNCF train station (52km) if using TGV/Eurostar. 4 hours drive time from St Malo (Brittany Ferries) or 500 miles from Calais (Eurotunnel).

Distances
Lusignac is 10 mins walk (bar, restaurant, chateau, medieval church). Bouteilles St Sebastien is 15 mins walk (bar, restaurant, medieval church and mairee). Verteillac is 5km (shops, bars, restaurants, bank, post office, doctors, chemist, hairdressers, galleries, newspapers, boulangerie. Riberac (supermarkets, large wonderful open-air market, many shops) 11km. Brantomme ‘Venice of Perigord’ is 36km. Monolithic church at Aubeterre (14km). Perigueux, capital of Dordogne 51km.

Further details
Boulangeries and smaller shops at Verteillac and St Severin. Large supermarkets at Riberac. Bordeaux wine area 1 hour away to West with Bergerac wine area 50 minutes to South.

Booking notes
Booking is direct by email with the owner. 25% deposit payable on booking. Rest payable 8 weeks before start date. 15% security deposit which is returned within 14 days of leaving the house; deductions made for any damage, abuse of the house. No charge for heating costs in Summer. Sorry, L'Ancien Chai is non-smoking and does not allow pets. Strictly 8 persons maximum.
