Our 17th Century farmhouse has been completely modernised to ensure comfort whilst maintaining some original features. There is a very large lounge/diner with a large open fireplace, although the house is fully centrally heated for the winter months. There is a full family bathroom on each floor and an additional WC on the ground floor. The house is set in 1.5 acres of garden with its own private fenced pool. It is secluded, peaceful and situated on the edge of a small hamlet making it an ideal place for a relaxing family holiday or for chilling out with friends. The large garden provides a lovely safe play area for children. There are several patio areas around the house as well as a large patio surrounding the pool. We have a table tennis table and football table for guests to use. The area has rivers and lakes with a variety of water sports, fishing, golf, tennis and horse riding. Civray is 5 kms away with a good range of shops, bars and restaurants. Bikes for hire.

Notes on accommodation
Hairdryers are supplied in each bedroom, 3 of the upstairs bedrooms have very large walk-in wardrobes. The outbuilding seen on the photos belongs to our property and is used purely for storage.

Accessibility
Not really suitable for wheelchair users however as there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor it may be suitable for the elderly or infirm.

Outside
The garden is very secluded and is 1.5 acres with its own private drive and parking. There are patios on 3 sides of the house and a large patio area surrounding the pool. There is plenty of patio furniture including chairs, loungers, tables and parasols. There is a brick-built barbeque. The swimming pool is private and exclusively for use by our guests. The pool is 8m x 4m, fully fenced with a solar cover to maintain temperature. The house is not overlooked and is solely for the use of our guests. There is a table tennis table in the garden for our guests. We also have bicycles for hire for all the family.

Coast/Beach
There is a long sandy beach just south of La Rochelle which is about one and a half hour's drive and is well worth a day trip.

Golf
There are many golf courses in the area including an 18 hole at Angouleme which is approx 40 minutes drive.

Travel
Poitiers airport 50 mins drive, La Rochelle about 2 hours, Limoges airport about one and a half hour's drive - all served by Ryanair from Stansted. Easy Jet will be flying to La Rochelle from Gatwick from July 07. Bordeaux airport is 2 hour's drive - British Airways fly from Gatwick. St Malo is 5 hour's drive. Calais and Boulogne approx 7 hour's using new A28 making it autoroute virtually all the way. Car hire essential.

Distances
The village of Genouille is 1km and has a bar and bakery. The nearest supermarket is 4km away and is open every day including Sunday morning. There are many picturesque towns and villages nearby either set on the river or with fantastic Chateaux.

Further details
Futuroscope theme park is 50 mins drive on the N10 towards Poitiers. For the young there is the Valle de Singe (monkey sanctuary), 20 mins drive, and the European Zoo, 1.5 hours drive. Locally at Civray there is canoeing and river fishing and a large outdoor pool. At Angouleme there is a lake complex with a sandy beach, jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing and a leisure centre with children's pools, chutes and lazy river. There is a lake at St Macoux with swimming, flume and fishing this is 5km away. There are many things to do within the location and we have a folder detailing as many of these in our house.

Booking notes
Booking form will be sent once an enquiry is made by email. Deposit of 25% is due on booking and the balance must be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival. A £250 security deposit must be paid with the balance which will be returned within 14 days of you leaving if there are no breakages or damage.
The prices shown are for 8 people, any additional people will be charged at £25 per person per week.

My husband and I live on the South coast in England with our two children. We both work and have our own Business and love our relaxing holidays on France.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We have always loved holidays in villas, traditionally in Spain or Menorca, however we then discovered France. We love the additional land traditionally afforded by french properties. Two young children also made up our minds as the additional space is a real bonus. The privacy, our own pool and such a lovely area with lots to do made La Touche an easy choice for us. We have had lots of lovely feedback on our home as we try to ensure our guests feel like they are at home when they visit. We would love to spend more time in France to enjoy our home but as we can't we decided to share it with people who too enjoy France, privacy and space as much as we do. Hopefully sunshine too!!

Unique benefits of the property
It is a peaceful location but within easy reach of some beautiful towns. The river and some fantastic lakes are also very near to the property. We have always found the village to be very friendly. The large garden means that we can relax knowing our children have lots of space to play safely. The pool is obviously a huge bonus.
