Outside
Gravelled area off kitchen has large dining table and gas BBQ under lovely ancient large walnut trees. Grassy area for kicking balls. Separate garage, with bedroom and bathroom. Lovely landscaping with fruiting plum trees. 12m fenced heated pool.
Golf
There are several local golf courses - Sain Cere, Brive la Gaillarde, Aubazine, Souillac, Limoges.
Travel
Airports: Limoges 1.5 hour, Toulouse 2 hours, Bordeaux 2 hours. Brive la Gaillarde train and car hire 25 mins.
Calais is about 700km away.
Use of a car in the area is definitely recommended.
Distances
Les Quatre Routes du Lot 1.5km (nearest supermarket and bakery). Well known pretty villages nearby (within 5-25 minute drive): Martel, Turenne, Collonges la Rouge, Curemont, Rocamadour, Meyssac, Carrenac, Creysse, Loubressac and Autoire.
Further details
It's in the Lot region, but right at the north, next to the border with the Correze and Dordogne departments. There are many beautiful villages within 30 mins of the house. The best villages in the area bounded by South Correze, North Lot and East Dordogne are: Turenne, Rocamadour, Carrenac, Creysse, Loubressac, Autoire, Martel, Collonges la Rouge, Curemonte, La Roque Gageac, Beaulieu sur Dordogne, Castelnau-Bretonoux, Sarlat, Gourdon, St Cirq la Popie. The food in the area is out of this world (it's the heart of foie gras and truffle territory), with some awesome Michelin starred restaurants in stunning settings. If you like seeing pre-historic sites, there are the Grotte Lascaux, Grotte du Fond de Gaume, Gouffre de Padirac and Grotte du Pech Merle. There is a mixture of prehistoric cave art, stalagmites and stalagtites, underground rivers etc. There are also lots of other sights and activities including castles, gardens, and canoeing (on the Dordogne, Ouysse, Vezere and Lot Rivers) and of course the local markets, with food and antiques.
