Our 200 year old charentaise house was updated in 2004 with the addition of 2 bedrooms and 3 en-suite shower rooms. It has an enclosed garden and a 10x5m swimming pool. It has inside and outside dining areas. We are a 10 minute walk to the Charente River and fishing permits can be bought locally. The small lanes are ideal for walking or cycling and there is an abundance of wild life. We have a mini market 2km away and 5 minutes by car takes you to Chaniers, a village with all facilities. There are 4 good restaurants also within 5 mins drive. 15 minutes drive to Saintes, train station and A10 motorway link. 20 mins to Cognac and Pons. 40 minutes to the Atlantic beaches near Royan. We are an hour from La Rochelle and the airport.

Changeover day in the summer is Saturday. Out with the peak periods this may be altered.

| Living Rooms: | Lounge has TV (British), DVD, hifi and a variety of books and games. There are 2 x 4 seater sofas and an armchair. |
| Other: | The dining room seats 8 comfortably. The outside terrace has dining space for 10 and has an electrically controlled awning. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Pool / beach and bathroom towels (washed by clients as required ) are supplied as is all bed linen ( fresh bed linen is provided weekly). Dish towels are also supplied. All the above are included in the price. Property is cleaned on changeover days. |
Notes on accommodation
There is a stair gate and various toys for young children.
Windows have shutters and fly screens.
For the cooler months, there is central heating and a wood burning stove.

Outside
The garden has parking for 3 cars and there is a gas barbecue (gas is included) and outside dining area seating up to 10. There is a 10x5m pool to the rear of the house surrounded by barriers and a self closing gate. There are loungers by the pool and parasols and a variety of inflatables.
Coast/Beach
A 40 min drive takes you to the beaches near Royan which are wide and safe for bathing and a little bit further to the côte sauvage with sand dunes and wide beaches.
Golf
Saintes is 15 mins away and is a challenging par 68, 4971m with some hills.
Cognac is 25 mins away and is an interesting parkland course par 72, 6142m.
Royan is a lovely par 71, 5920m is 40 mins by car.
Angouleme is 45 min away and is a par 70, 5365m.
La Rochelle is just over an hour away, and is a challenging links course, par 72, 5931 m.
Travel
We are an hour from La Rochelle airport, 90km and 1¼ hour from Bordeaux, 115km and an 1½ hour from Poitiers 130km. We are 450km from Saint Malo about 5 hours drive.
Distances
Nearest village is Chaniers a 5 min drive. Saintes is 15 mins it has a roman amphitheatre and baths and pleasure boats. Pons and Cognac are 20 mins away with many wine and cognac distilleries where samples may be tried. The zoo at La Palmyre is 45 minutes drive and La Rochelle is an hour away, where there are museums, aquarium and a lovely harbour with dozens of cafes/restaurants. Bordeaux is just over an hour away as are the famous wine growing regions.
Further details
There are 4 good restaurants within 5 mins drive. There are 4 large supermarkets in Saintes as well as all the usual shops. There is a large market in Saintes the first monday of each month. and a street market everyday except Mondays. The centre of Saintes is a pedestrian precinct. There are banks , post office, bars, restaurants, doctors, dentists, hairdressers, mini market, butcher and two bakers in Chaniers which can be reached by road (5mins) or a two car ferry ( FOC). 2mins by car, 15 minutes by bike and 40mins walking.
Nearby there are tennis courts, riding centres and karting tracks.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is required with the booking form. The remaining balance should be paid 8 weeks before arrival. A 200 euro deposit is requested which will be returned if there are no breakages or damage.
