The Pools

Le Prielle is situated in the midst of the Madiran vineyards on the borders of the Gers, Pyrenees Atlantique & Haute Pyrenees in the heart of Gascony close to the Pyrenees mountains. The accommodation comprises two beautifully restored Gites which have been created from a renovated barn, in the grounds of an old Chateau, dating from 1745. An ideal holiday location for lovers of beautiful countryside, good food, fine wine and a more relaxed pace of life. Space and tranquility, an ideal place to recharge your batteries whilst surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains, in the heart of the Gascon countryside. The accommodation is situated within a private courtyard, with a separate parking area. The large swimming pool comprises a paddling pool (25msq) with a depth of 40cm waterfalling into a large pool (75msq) with a shallow end of 1m and a deep end of 2m.

Notes on accommodation
The Gites are all Child friendly, a cot and a high chair and plenty of toys are available on request.
A Satellite television, DVD and Video machine, a selection of both English, French DVDs and videos are available.
Table tennis, badminton and rugby post in grounds. Mini bar games - pool, air hockey and table football.
An adjoining door enables the Chai and La Grange gites to be let as either 2 separate units or 1 large unit sleeping 10+ people.
Ideal for 2 families wishing to holiday together, or large groups wishing to holiday together.
Le Pigionaire is an idea holiday home for winter and Christmas holidays, as it is fully insulated with a central wood burning stove and under floor central heating.
All 4 gites have their own private garden, with out back BBQ, a dining area and garden furniture.
Seperate parking area.
Laundry is provided, at no extra charge.
Pets welcome - by arrangement.

Outside
Private customer parking. The gites surround a private courtyard, with central fountain. Although each gite has its own entrance & private garden area with Out Back BBQ, dining areas and garden furniture - however guests are invited to explore the whole grounds which include a woodland, woodland walks, orchard & ancient chapel. The pool area is furnished with seating & umbrellas and is 100msq.
Mini Bar games available - pool, table football, air hockey. Table tennis & badminton, plus a Rugby post - for budding players of all ages!

Coast/Beach
Within easy reach of the Pyrenees mountains, the French Atlantic coast and the Cote d'Argent, all offering a wide variety of activities.

Golf
Mini golf available at Plaissance du Gers 12km.
The oldest golf course in France, at Pau, is approx. 45 minutes drive away.

Skiing
Excellent skiing, for all levels, is available at Bareges & La Mongie 60km. Especially good nursery areas & clubs are available for small children.

Special interest holidays
Guided visits of the local Chateau's & Vineyards provided by the owners, with wine tasting at each location (driver provided!). Gourmet meals in house & at local restruarants also available by arrangement. An excellent way to celebrate special occassions - 40th & 50th birthdays, anniversaries, and family parties for New Year & Christmas are all catered for. Painting, drawing holidays are available with an English speaking Artist. Minimum group number of 5+ people required, 5 days tuition. Please enquire.

Nearest airports:
Pau Pyrenees (Stansted) - 45 mins.
Bordeaux Merignac, Toulouse Blagnac, Biarritz (All major UK Airports) - 2 hours.
Tarbes-Lourdes (Paris & the USA) - 1 hour.

Distances
Close to the market towns of Plaisance du Gers, Vic en Bigorre, Maubourguet and Aire sur l'Adour visitors are spoilt for choice when looking for quality regional produce.
The areas around Madiran include the wine growing region of St Mont, Juracon and the Bearn. In addition, within easy reach, to the north is the Armagnac region and some of the most charming towns in South West France.
Local Facilities: 3km to nearest village - MADIRAN - where there is a Boulangerie,Epicerie,Tennis,Bar,Resto.

Further details
The historic town of Lourdes, is 45 mins. away. Visitors can worship and visit the cave where Bernadette had her vision.
Wine tasting, mini-golf, fishing & horse riding are all available locally.
Fetes - We list a few of the local fetes below; which we thoroughly recommend.
Madiran - 14/15 August - Fete du Vin - where all local producers offer free tasting of thier wines & foods. Music & meals available over a period of 4 days.
November - Portes ouverts - where all producers open their Chais for tasting & purchasing prior to Christmas.
Marciac - International Jazz festival - 2 weeks of music, stalls & food from around the world.
Plaisance du Gers - July - huge street fete, including course landaise.
Maubourguet - August - huge street fete over 4 days including bull fighting & course landaise.

50% deposit at time of booking, balance due 60 days prior to your stay.
A fully refundable deposit for breakages required.

Gites must be left clean & tidy, a caution will be charged & taken from the deposit, if not!

Guest comments
After our visit May'07 we can confirm this is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a spot to relax with or without a family. Exactly as described, the Gite was comfortable and well fitted out and the environment altogether peaceful. Simon & Paulette are superb hosts with an excellent knowledge of local foods & wines with plenty of helpful advice if you are new to the area around Madiran. Le Prielle suited us perfectly & we cannot recommend it too highly. Hugh & Sarah, The Cotswolds.
La Prielle is in an idyllic location amongst the vineyards. The Appleby family are terrific hosts and ensured we had a splendid week. Our city children were delighted and amazed to be collecting eggs, feeding rabbits, catching frogs and visiting new-born goats in the neighbouring farm – leaving their parents free to fully test the health benefits of the local Madiran wine. The gite is fantastically kitted out for children with toys and videos etc.
