The flat is in a peaceful location perched on an unspoilt hillside above the port. There are panoramic views of Port-Vendres, the port and the foothills of the Pyrenees. If you follow the path over the hillside you are standing above the Mediterranean, with the coastline stretching into the distance. Access to the flat is by foot: up a flight of steps and along a winding path past a row of picturesque houses, mainly inhabited by old ladies and pussycats.

Notes on accommodation
The flat has electric heating; it is well ventilated with windows on both sides so remains cool even in hot weather. Access involves walking up steps - it is not possible to drive a car right up to the flat- so the flat is not suitable for small children or people who dislike walking.

Outside
There is a small paved garden with table and 4 chairs to the rear of the house.

Coast/Beach
Access to a rocky cove by walking over the hillside in 5 mins. There are beaches on the far side of the port, access 20 mins on foot and 5 mins by car. There is a lovely unspoilt beach between Port-Vendres and Banyuls 10 mins by car, or by bus from the stop in front of the tourist office.

Travel
Ryanair flies to Perpignan (summer months only) or Gerona Spain (all year). Easy Jet flies to Montpellier. Car hire available in all airports - Driving time about 40 mins from Perpignan airport, 90 mins from Gerona, 2 hours from Montpellier. It is also possible to arrive directly in Port-Vendres by train: Travel time from Paris approx 6 hours, from Montpellier 2 hours, from Perpignan 30 mins.

Distances
Collioure is 2km away, Perpignan 25km, the Spanish Frontier 15km, Figueras (Dali museum) 80km, Barcelona is accessible by car (around 2 hours) or by train.

Further details
Wonderful walks along the coast or up into the Pyrenees. A good choice of local shops and restaurants. Port-Vendres is a lively town with an active fishing fleet so there are always bars and restaurants open even in the 'low' season.

Booking notes
Reservations will be confirmed on reception of a completed booking form. A deposit equivalent to 50% is payable on booking with the remainder due one month beforehand.

‘A lovely apartment. Quite a climb but really worth it. Port-Vendres seems a real place, full of bustle, with something new to see every minute and gorgeous views, and with none of the pretentious of Collioure’

‘A room with a view and forever changing. A steep but charming walk up here with cats and kittens everywhere. The fish market has the freshest fish we've ever seen. It is great to have oysters and champagne at the oyster bar there!’

Interested in exhanging against somewhere close to ski slopes during the French school holidays (Christmas or February).
