Our farm is a veritable haven of tranquillity where children can play in safety, and couples can relax in the peaceful Normandy countryside. We are only 6km from beautiful sandy beaches and ideally placed for visiting Mont St Michel, Bayeux, and the Landing Beaches. The attractive market town of La Haye du Puits, 6km away, has all the shops you need, including 2 supermarkets. If you are a fan of French street markets there is one available every day within easy driving distance. We have swings, a selection of bicycles, table tennis and table football and a trampoline available on site. Other sporting and leisure activities available nearby include tennis, golf, horse riding, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing, karting and ice-skating. There is now a network of cycle routes going to La Haye du Puits and Coutances in one direction, and Portbail and Briquebec in the other, all of which can be joined very close to the house (200m). We are situated within the National Parc des Marais.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday in season, but we can be more flexible in the low season, depending on availabilty. We ask guests to vacate gites by 10am and to arrive after 4pm. An optional cleaning service (40 Euros) is available on request.

Chevrefeuille (3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 7)

Created from three stables, Chèvrefeuille is a large, spacious gîte designed to accommodate up to 7 people in comfort. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room with wood-burning stove and kitchen area. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and has an en-suite showeroom equipped for wheelchair users. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, a shower room and separate toilet. The gite now has full oil-fired central heating. The gîte is accessible to wheelchair users and has been inspected and approved by the Association des Paralysés de France. The gîte has a washing machine and TV (4 English channels as well as French). Outside is a large stone patio area with a table and benches. Comfortable garden chairs and a barbecue are provided. |

Jasmin (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

Converted from a former cider store, Jasmin, our 2 bedroom gite is able to accommodate 4 people. Downstairs there is the living area, separated from the well equipped kitchen, a shower room with basin, and a separate toilet. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. Electric heating is in all rooms. The gîte has a washing machine and TV (4 English channels as well as French). Outside is a grassy area with table and comfortable garden chairs. A barbecue is also available. |

Notes on accommodation
We have an area with swings where children can play safely, and meet our ponies, ducks, chickens, goats, rabbit, guinea pigs, sheep and a very friendly dog (Tish). We have a communal area with Wi-Fi access.
Accessibility
Our Gite Chevrefeuille is fully equipped for wheelchair access with ground floor bedroom & bathroom. We are able to hire any further equipment required from our local pharmacy.
Outside
Each gite has a garden area with garden furniture and BBQs provided. All our gites benefit from heating, Chevrefeuille and Stable Cottages having their own wood burning stoves.
Coast/Beach
8 minutes drive from some of the best beaches Normandy has to offer. Beaches are never crowded, even in summer and there is a good choice locally between quiet beaches situated in nature reserves, or beaches that are closer to facilities (bars/restaurants/toilets etc. There is even a nudist beach at St. Germain sur Ay.
Golf
There is a good 9 hole course within 20 minutes drive (St. Jores) and within an hour there are 3 further courses (Granville, Brehal & Cherbourg).
Special interest holidays
Good for bird-watching - many designated resverves with hides, lots of migratory birds and storks on the marais.
Travel
We are about 45 minutes from Cherbourg airport which operates flights to Jersey and Paris. Check for seasonal availability). Other airports nearby include Caen and Dinard. The closest Ferry port is Cherbourg (45 mins), but Caen Ouistreheim (1.5 hrs) and Le Havre (2.25 hrs) are also options, as is Boulougne (4.5 hours) if you are coming from the South East of England.
Distances
We are situated 5 minutes from the small market town of La Haye du Puits, but are also close to Portbail & Barneville Carteret for shopping. The Mont St. Michel and Bayeux tapestry are within easy striking distance, as are the landing beaches on the other side of the penisula along with the war museums. Day trips by boat to Jersey and the Iles de Chausey are frequent and very accessible from our location, and Paris is only 2.5 hrs away by train.
Further details
Local supermarkets are open 7 days during the season, and we also collect bread/croissant each morning for our guests. Local activities include horse riding, land yachting, power kiting karting, ice skating etc and we are next to a vast network of off road cycle paths which are ideal for hiking/cycling. Day trips to Jersey/Guernsey & Paris can be easily arranged.
Booking notes
We ask for a 25% deposit, payable in cash or electronic transfer (sterling or euros), with the balance payable on arrival. No euro bankers drafts or cheques please, except if they are of French bank origin.

House swap
If you feel up to feeding the menagerie (goats/ducks/chickens/Sheep/rabbit/cat/dog/Guinea pigs) then we would certainly consider a house/farm swap out of season during the kids holidays. February 16th to March 2nd 2008 is probably the only time though.
