Les Chapelles is a small hamlet set in the Charente-Maritime countryside between the historic Roman town of Saintes and the beautiful beaches of Royan. We have a 3 double/twin bedroom cottage, Le Cadran Solaire, and a 2 double/twin bedroom apartment, La Cachette. Both are luxuriously appointed with all mod cons and each has its own private outdoor space for relaxing, eating and drinking with access to a further three acres of land. Both gites enjoy use of a stunning new indoor swimming pool. The hamlet is close to Montpellier-de-Medillan and Meursac, villages with butchers, bakers, convenience stores, newsagents and, in Meursac, a superb restaurant. We are within easy reach of the larger towns of Cozes, Saintes and Royan with further opportunities for shoppng, eating, drinking and entertainment. Slightly further afield are the sophisticated La Rochelle, buzzing Bordeaux and world-famous Cognac.

La Cachette (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

La Cachette (The Hiding Place) is a first-floor apartment in a renovated 200 year old barn. It has a big kitchen/diner, a separate large lounge, two bedrooms (one double, one twin), a shower room and separate WC. La Cachette also has a private terrace for al fresco dining. There is a large living room and seprate kitchen/diner. The kitchen features oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine, kettle, toaster and coffeemaker. The lounge features English language satellite TV, DVD player and wood burning stove. |

Notes on accommodation
In addition to their woodburning stoves, both gites have central heating. With children ourselves, we have designed the gites to be extremely child friendly and we have cots and other equipment available - let us know what you require and we'll see if we can help!
We provide all linen and towels (including towels for use by the pool).
Accessibility
Le Cadran Solaire has been designed to allow for wheelchair access. It has a downstairs bedroom and bathroom in addition, obviously, the kitchen and lounge also being downstairs.
Outside
Le Cadran Solaire has a large terrace and garden. There's a table, chairs, sun loungers, umbrella and barbecue. La Cachette has a small, very private terrace with table, chairs and an umbrella, with access to a barbecue in the courtyard.
Both gites have access to a stunning, heated indoor swimming pool and its terrace/deck.
The whole site sits in three and a half acres of land and there is a children's climbing frame/play area.
Coast/Beach
Beautiful beaches at St Georges-de-Didonne and Royan are within 25 minutes' drive, with the Cote Sauvage about 40 minutes away by car. The Ile de Re and Ile d'Oleron are within an hour's drive.
Golf
There are easily accessible 18-hole golf courses in Royan and Saintes - both within about 30 minutes - with courses at Cognac and La Rochelle a little further afield.
Travel
The nearest airport is La Rochelle, about an hour's drive away. Bordeaux airport is a little further (approx. 80 mins) and Poitiers 90 minutes away by car. If flying, hiring a car is strongly recommended.
The northern ports of France (Cherbourg, Caen, St. Malo) are about a 5 hour drive, with Calais and the Eurotunnel about a 7 hour drive away.

Our nearest village is Montpellier-de-Medillan, about 1.5km away. The small town of Cozes is 9km away, with historic Roman town Saintes and seaside town Royan both about 20km away in opposite directions.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking (or shortly afterwards) with the full balance payable 8 weeks before arrival.

Great location. Great accommodation and company. You couldn’t ask for more. The Pinsent family have created a fantastic holiday home. And the swimming pool – even the most hardened slob would find it hard to resist...
