Converted coach house and stables set in 3 acres with 10 x 5 swimming pool, sun loungers and parasols. There is a private drive and parking. Both gites have their own individual gardens with shaded seating and barbecue areas. There is a large playing field with table tennis, badminton and swings. Adult bicycles are available for free hire. The property is situated on the edge of the medieval town of Le Dorat and within 10 mins easy walking distance of shops and cafes and restaurants. Limoges and Poitiers are both within 1 hour’s drive and offer excellent shopping opportunities and cultural attractions. An ideal area for cycling, fishing, horse riding and watersports are available close by.

| A spacious house of character with oak beams throughout comprising large lounge/dining room with 'Villager' wood burning stove and four sets of french windows overlooking outside seating area and swimming pool. The lounge/dining area is furnished with comfortable seating, bed settee and dining suite. Satellite TV provided. End kitchen comprises gas hob with electric oven, microwave oven and fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and crockery and cutlery of 6 people. Open plan stairs from lounge/dining area lead to the galleried balcony and bedrooms - one double and one twin - both with space for and extra single bed. Both bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms with shower cubicle, washbasin and WC. All first floor windows are fitted with screens. | |
Notes on accommodation
Both properties are fully centrally heated for winter letting. Bed linen, towels and T-towels are provided. The pool is fitted with safety fencing and childproof gates to comply with the French pool safety regulations. The large playing field is gated and child friendly. The owners are on hand for any questions, but your privacy is respected at all times.
Outside
Both gite gardens have barbecues and shaded patio areas with table and chairs. Sun loungers and parasols are provided around the 10 x 5 pool. The pool is maintained and cleaned daily and is open from May - September.
Coast/Beach
The coast at La Rochelle is approx 2.30 hours drive away. Lac de Saint-Pardoux is a half hour drive and has safe sandy beaches, water sports, fishing and many beautiful walks.
Travel
Les Roues Vertes is situated between Limoges and Poiters. Both airports are approx 50 mins. Calais is approx. six and a half hours driving time. The town has a full range of shops including bars, restaurants, banks, antique shops and supermarkets. Car hire is available at Limoges & Poitiers airports and is recommened for those that like to get off the beaten track. There is a train station in Le Dorat that serves Poitiers and Limoges.
Distances
We are situated on the edge of the medieval town of Le Dorat, a 10 minute walk to the magnificent 11th - 12th century Collegiate of Saint-Pierre, one of the Limousin's finest gems of pure Romanesque art. The 15th century fortified gates and ramparts of Le Dorat offer panoramic views over the beautiful countryside. Pavement cafes grace the squares within the town.
Further details
There are very good restaurants in the town as well as numerous cafe/bars where you can enjoy lunch or supper and watch the world go by. Antique shops, book shops, gift shops, factory outlets for Limoges pottery and fine lingerie are on the outskirts of the town. Three annual horse racing events (June, July & August) and National Horse show in September are held nearby. Further afield Futuroscope Park, Animal Parks, Bird shows and fun parks are well worth a visit.
