Tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Le Fauresourd our Gite La Vigne is blissfully peaceful but within easy distance of shops, restaurants and historic sites. A character property with modern comforts surrounded by vineyards and countryside. Our own property is next door and is a bed and breakfast accommodation. So if you need more space it's there! 3 rooms available. As we live close by we are able to offer additional extras to make sure you relax and enjoy your holiday: Meal deliveries, including vegetarian, and we'll collect the washing up! Child minding. Taxi service to restaurants. Visits for wine tasting.

Prices are for the property per week in Euros. Prices include linens, towels.
**Heating and utilities are charged at cost (October - April). Please contact us if you wish to rent for a month or more, we can offer some good deals.
4 people renting 15% discount (May, June and Sept).
2 people renting 25% discount (May, June and Sept).
Flexible arrival dates to allow you to book cheaper travel.
Book before 31 December 2008 and get a 5% reduction.
Changeover day
We can be flexible about changeover days as we live next door. However in July and August we try to maintain a Saturday changeover day. Please discuss with us.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | There are 2 double bedrooms ground floor, ideal for people with mobility difficulties (see accessability below). There is another double room upstairs, as well as a twin room. The mezzanine floor has a small bed too if needed. |
| Bathrooms: | On the ground floor next to the bedroom is a walk in shower and a separate WC. A second en-suite downstairs bedroom has been adapted for wheelchair users, with ramp access and a wheel in shower chair. |
| Kitchen: | The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with all pots pans cutlery etc. There is a dishwasher, full size oven, microwave and fridge/freezer. Kettle, toaster and coffee maker are also provided. |
| Utility Room: | There is no separate utility room but there is a washing machine. |
| Living Rooms: | The open plan lounge dining room, has a large table (to seat 8 comfortably), 2 sofas and a chair. There is digital French TV, video and DVD. A CD Player is also provided. The mezzanine area has a playstation2 with TV. There is free Wifi ADSL. |
| Other: | The swimming pool is for use mainly by guests at La Vigne. Our Bed and Breakfast accommodation is next door and there may occasionally be 2 other people using the pool or hot tub, rarely. Or you can rent the whole place to yourselves! |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
All linen, towels (including pool towels) and utilities are included in the price. The gite is cleaned thoroughly for your arrival and the beds are made up. |
Notes on accommodation
The property is very suitable for children. Also for people with mobility difficulties, including wheelchair access. The property is heated for the cooler months and has room fans for the hot months. All windows have screens for keeping out insects.
There is Wifi ADSL internet access and a laptop computer is available - use is free of charge. Cot and highchair provided.

Accessibility
One of the downstairs bedrooms has full ramp access and an adapted en-suite shower room with rails and a wheel in showerchair. The living room and kitchen areas are also accessable by wheelchair. The grounds are largely flat and can be accessed. Please let us know if you would like to contact other wheelchair users who have stayed here and we will put you in touch.
Outside
The property has an outside eating area, which is covered in case of showers, with a table and chairs that can seat 8. There is a built in BBQ. The pool (16x14m) has sun loungers and umbrellas, there is also shaded areas to escape the heat. The pool is not heated but maintains + 20C from the end of April until the end of Sept, with temperatures of 24C - 27C in June, July and August. It has a safe shallow end for children and non-swimmers. Its is alarmed for childrens safety.
There is also a relaxing hot tub Jacuzzi (not for children).
In the grounds are a swing set, table tennis, football goal, badminton set and a tree house (for children!).
Lots of space to run around in. 9 acres altogether.
Fruit trees available to pick from, cherries in May, Nectarines in June, Plumbs and berries in July, Apples and Pears in August. Lots of walk from the property or good cycling tracks.
If you are a birdwatcher this is a paradise.
Coast/Beach
The coast of Arcachon is one and a half hours drive away, but it is worth it to climb the Dune de Pilat, the largest sand dune in Europe. The views are spectacular. So are the Oysters and Mussels.
Golf
There are several good golf courses in the area, only 40 minutes away. Golf clubs can be rented. We also have a large garden and field which has ample space for golf practice.
Special interest holidays
We can organise visits to vineyards for wine tasting and tours of the Wine Caves.
Travel
We have 2 airports within easy distance of us - Bordeaux and Bergerac. Flybe, bmibaby, BA, Aer Lingus, Ryanair, Easyjet all fly to these destinations. Eurostar and TGV also just take 7 hours from London to Libourne. If driving we are approximately 6 hours drive from St.Malo.
Distances
Our local village is 1.5km, where you can buy daily bread and croissants. There is a good Boulangerie for cold meat and prepared foods, as well as staple foods.
We do morning bread, croissants and newspaper runs in the summer months.
Further details
The nearest supermarkets are 6kms, as well as banks and pharmacies. We have a GP in the village. It is possible to organise dialysis at Ste Foy La Grande or Libourne hospitals.
This is an area steeped in history from prehistoric caves, the Romans, 100 Years War and WW2. There are numerous sites to visit:
Roman mosaics in Montcaret.
Bastide towns of Ste Foy la Grande, Villefranche de Lonchapt, Sauveterre.............
Re-enactment of the last battle of the Hundred Years War at Castillon (JUly and August).
Demarkation Line of WW2 (we are situated just inside Vichy France).
Pre-historic caves in various locations, Lascaux is about an hour from us.
For children there are plenty of activities from horseriding, go-karting to tree top activity centres. There is a large Aqua Park just outside Bordeaux - one hour away.
We also have table tennis, badminton, boules, and swings.
If that doesn't satisfy them we have 9 acres you can bury them in!
Booking notes
A deposit of 20% is required to secure a booking. The final payment is due 4 weeks before arrival. This can be paid in euros or sterling by cheque or bank transfer.
