Owner profile

One of very few photos of the 2 of us together!

About the owner
Hi all, We`re a young`ish` couple who have been here for 10 years now having fallen in love with this very unspoilt, wild and rugged, part of France. No kids but serious animal lovers who love walking and biking and we`ve just started missing certain things from England - namely the lovely country pubs! We`re both from office based backgrounds so the property maintenance and restoration we do here is very different. With us what you see is what you get, we`re conscientious and fairly easy going.

Year purchased: 2001

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We were down in Albi on holiday 11 years ago and kept gravitating back up to the whole area from the Aveyron river upwards past the Cele river and on a sheer whim decided to view some properties. We only saw 5, fell hook line and sinker for the big barn with seperate cottage (now the gite) and without even looking into what facilities the village offered we bought it! Due to the amount of work needed to restore both buildings we had no choice but to pack in our jobs, load up a rental van (we didn`t have much `stuff`) and head here for good. We`ve loved it here, have made some lovely friends and have not looked back though we appreciate the ease of been back in the UK when we go there which we took for granted before.

Unique benefits of the property
Most of our guests comment on how much space there is in the cottage and how the photos don`t do it justice and we like this reaction. No-one is disappointed and everyone mentions the beautiful views and how lucky we must be to live here. We may not be next to big towns (though are 20 minutes and less from 4 really nice ones with everything you`ll need) but we do have the benefit of being in a authentic and beautiful french stone village with some great characters plus the convenience of a well stocked little village shop just down the hill and a really good butcher also in the village. Hard to say how our cottage compares with others as most others we know of are far bigger and cater for 8 plus people, however, if all past guests have loved it then so will you!
