Spacious family gite with large private indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. Situated within walking distance of Erbray village the gite is not isolated and only 8km from the historic market town of Châteaubriant. Originally an old milking parlour, the property has been lovingly converted to accommodate up to ten guests in comfort. The indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and optional sauna are for your private use and not shared with either the owners or any other guests for the duration of your stay. The pool-room is reached via a stroll through the landscaped garden which features an (unfenced) Koi carp pond, games area, illuminated dining pagoda with BBQ and timber decked sun bathing terrace. The gite and it's private facilities will meet the demands of guests looking for that little 'extra' from their self catering holiday gite accommodation. The French Granary is the perfect French rural retreat for families or friends looking to get 'far from the maddening crowd'.

Notes on prices
Prices quoted are for rental of the property per week in UK Pounds and include accommodation for a maximum of ten guests (including babies and children) and exclusive use of the private indoor heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi and 'pay as you use' sauna. Special rates for long lets.

Changeover day
In the high seasons, all bookings are Saturday to Saturday. Arrival time strictly after 4.30pm - Departure time latest 10am. For the comfort of all of our guests we ask that you please adhere strictly to these arrival and departure times. Thank you.

Accommodation

 

Notes on accommodation
The gite is fully centrally heated, making it suitable for year round availability. It boasts 5 bedrooms, comfortably sleeping up to ten guests (including children), three bath/shower rooms, very spacious lounge, fully fitted country kitchen/breakfast room and dining room that easily seats up to ten guests. All rooms are of a good size and have been tastefully decorated, combining both original features with essential modern day creature comforts. Oscillating fans are provided free of charge in every room and portable air-conditioning units are available to rent should the heat become excessive.

Accessibility
For guests who may have difficulty in negotiating stairs, there is a ground floor twin single bedroom with adjacent bathroom and WC. Please note that there is a step leading down from the dining room into the lounge. We remind parents with young children that there are 2 unfenced ponds within the grounds of the property and that the gite is surrounded by a gravel drive, which can be difficult to negotiate by wheelchair users.

Outside
The gîte is situated in it's own grounds adjacent to the owner’s house. The private garden features an unfenced Koi carp pond, an illuminated and covered alfresco dining pagoda with brick built BBQ and wooden garden furniture. For children and the ‘young at heart’ there is a full size table tennis table, basketball net, badminton/volleyball green and games area. A stroll through the garden leads to the timber decked sunbathing terrace and entrance to your own private indoor swimming pool complex, consisting of a large 10 x 5m heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and optional sauna. The pool-room is open daily from 09.30am to 21.00pm (except Sunday's when it is closed in the mornings for maintenance, cleaning and balancing). Please note that this is a large in-ground swimming pool set in a purpose built detached pool-room. The pool is heated free of charge from April to October and can be heated outside of these months by request, please ask for details.

Coast/Beach
The longest beach in Europe (8km long) at the chic seaside resort of La Baule is an hour by car. Great for designer label shopping and gourmet restaurants, it's regarded by many as the St. Tropez of Brittany! Just 15 minutes from the Gite is one of the largest inland lakes in the region. It offers a sandy man-made beach with supervised (in July/August) bathing, fishing, sailing, windsurfing and water sports. All equipment is available for hire during the high season.

Golf
For the golfing enthusiast there is a 9 hole 21 acre Golf Course with equipment hire just 15 mins away by car. Fun for all the family can be had at the 18 hole Mini Crazy Golf in Chateaubriant. If you are looking for a whole new golfing experience try Swin Golf - Golf with a twist played and enjoyed in a beautiful setting with a single very unusual three headed golf club, great fun for both young and the young at heart. If you are more serious about your Golf, why not spend the day at the International Golf course at La Baule, just an hour away by car.

Special interest holidays
We have a full time ‘in-house’ qualified and experienced French language teacher available. French lessons and tuition by the hour or week, taught to all levels and standards. Intensive residential courses available throughout the year. Please enquire for further details. Learning to swim? Many of our guests have enjoyed teaching their children, friends and family to learn how to swim in the privacy of the private indoor heated swimming pool.

Travel
Thinking of travelling by plane? no problem! Nantes, Rennes and Angers airports are all less than an hour away and we offer an airport taxi service. The closest Ferry port is St. Malo, (hour and a half). Caen and Cherbourg (3 hours) and Dieppe (Four hours). Furthest away are Calais and Boulogne, both about 6 to 7 hours drive. Distances
We are only 5 minutes walk from the delightful village of Erbray, which has a park, children's playground, sports centre, lake (well stocked with carp!), supermarket, 2 bars, bakers, pharmacy, hairdresser, p/office and most importantly, a family lunchtime restaurant! The historic market town of Châteaubriant is 10 minutes by car. Erbray is 50 minutes from the Atlantic coast & cities of Nantes, Rennes & Angers. 2 hours from Futuroscope, Puy du Fou & Le Mans and 4-5 hours from Eurodisney & Paris.

We believe that the decision on what you wish to do on your holiday and with whom you wish to spend time, should be yours. Our only involvement is to provide you with the keys to your ‘home from home’ country gite, in a region of France not as yet spoilt by tourism. If you and your family or friends are looking to enjoy a holiday in peace and tranquillity (yet within walking distance of the village and all its amenities) then this laid back semi-rural retreat may be exactly what the doctor ordered. Late and last minute availability offers: Our guests can relax in the knowledge that by booking early they not only secure the dates that suits them best, but also, that they have not been penalised for doing so. Unlike so many other gite owners we do not feel it fair to our guests to offer last minute cut price rates. Everyone that chooses to stay at The French Granary can relax in the knowledge that they have paid the advertised rates - no matter when they booked.

Booking notes
Important - please make sure that you take out travel insurance to cover not only your journey but also holiday cancellation and adequate cover for accidental damage. A fully refundable security deposit of £350 or Euros is payable upon arrival. All deposits returned in full on morning of departure, subject to property inspection and mutually agreed deductions for any damage or breakages that may have occurred during your stay.
