A travel writer with London's Evening Standard stayed here with her family - and we were thrilled to read her enthusiastic write-up on the house in her subsequent article on the region. La Poujoulie is situated on the edge of a tiny hamlet, with far reaching views over farmland & rolling hills in every direction and here you will discover the timeless way of life that is rural France. Spacious and comfortable it lends itself well to accommodating 2 families or 2 generations on holiday as it consists of the main farmhouse (3 bedrooms) and the cottage (2 bedrooms)facing each other across a pretty central courtyard, each with their own living room and satellite TV. With a games room in the barn (table tennis/pool/table football) bicycles, a solar heated pool & a sunny garden, it provides a variety of interests at home and within easy reach there's lots to do (sailing/waterskiing/ canoeing/golf) and interesting places to visit (Cordes, Albi, Najac).

Cottage: Studio living room with corner kitchenette, dining table/4 chairs, satellite TV, video.
Other: Study area with two easy chairs, side table, etc.

Linen & towels & pool towels provided (changed weekly). End of tenancy cleaning, other cleaning by arrangement. Baby sitting by arrangement.

 

Notes on accommodation
The cottage bedrooms & shower room are on the ground floor so are suitable for people who find stairs difficult.

Outside
The garden & pool are maintained regularly. The pool (8 x 5 m), step-ladder at deep end and roman steps at shallow end)has solar heating, an aqua alarm and is in a separately fenced area of garden. We provide lilos, etc. for the pool and a variety of indoor & outdoor games. There are several outdoor tables & chairs in both the courtyard and in the (south-facing) garden and 8 teak loungers at the pool. Barbecue provided.

Rodez airport - (1 hours drive to north)
Toulouse airport - (1 hour 30 mins. to south)
St. Malo - (11 hours drive to north)

Distances
Mirandol Bourgnounac (8 kms)/Laguepie (12 kms), both villages with supermarkets, restaurants, ATMs, hotel,
patisseries, butchers, doctors.
Carmaux (19 kms), town with all facilities, inc. station.
Cap Decouverte (25 kms) vast leisure centre with dry ski slope, water skiing, skate boarding, etc.
Albi (45 kms), Najac (20 kms), Cordes(28 kms) just three of many market towns of interest in the vicinity dating from medieval times.
Vineyards at Gaillac (40 kms).

Further details
Great walking country and many other outdoor pursuits available. Little restaurants open up everywhere for the summer serving excellent local specialities such as duck, goats cheese & foie gras. Weekly farmers markets and regular brocante markets in many towns & villages.

Booking notes
30% deposit at time of booking with balance payable 6 weeks prior to holiday start date. Returnable delapidations deposit (£250) payable with final balance. Rental rates include linen, towels & pool towels, gas, electricity, pool cleaning, garden maintenance and house clean at end of rental period.
Rental rates DO NOT include telephone (except local calls), internet access, central heating, fuel for woodburning stove. These by prior arrangement & in addition to rental rates.
