Golf
Golfers looking for sunshine, fantastic Mediterranean scenery and friendly, welcoming courses could do a lot worse than head to Languedoc-Roussillon for their golf holidays abroad.
Very close to the historic city of Carcassonne, a world heritage site, this 18 hole, par 71 course is gently undulating, with technical challenges to keep the best players interested, but nothing too daunting for the beginner. The stream that crosses the course, the water obstacles and carefully sited bunkers add spice to the game.
The 9th hole has been named by several golf magazines as the most original in Europe.
While you’re in the area, try the great wines of the Corbières, Fitou or Minervois and the culinary specialities of the Cathar region.

Further details
Visit Carcassonne, whose unique fortified medieval city can be visited on foot, by train or in an open carriage. Visit on Bastille Day (14th July) and see a spectacular display second only to Paris.
Visit Trèbes and the Canal du midi: You will appreciate the walk or cycle on the tow path, in the shade of the hundred-year-old trees.
Trèbes in the 17th century was at an important point of the navigation on the canal du midi. Horse-drawn barges stopped there and the travellers could eat and spend the night in the hostels which were in front of the Tourist information office.
It remains a welcoming and appreciated area by the holiday-makers who navigate the canal du midi.
The canal is full of fun, whether for cycling, fishing boating or just taking a peaceful stroll along the path.
The canal itself is a world heritage site.

We had a fantastic time at Maison d'Oliver, the villa was amazing, really well equipped and very comfortable. We had brilliant weather and spent most of our time lazing in and by the pool. KW.
