Lakeside cottage located in a tranquil valley, just outside the small village of Bertric Burée and 7 km from the market town of Riberac in the beautiful Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne. Situated in 15 acres of rural countryside and boasting abundant wildlife and fruit trees, our converted gites are well equipped and offer spacious accommodation. Overlooking our well stocked fishing lake, which is framed by 4 acres of woodland, the gites benefit from their own sun terrace and balcony. They are just a short walk (100m) from the 10m x 5m swimming pool.

A security deposit of £100 is required on booking. Check in time is 4 pm. Check out time is 10 am.
Accessibility
The property is set on a hill down to the lake, and there are a few steps and some uneven ground, so it is difficult for people with mobilty problems.
Outside
Sun terrace, balcony overlooking the lake and barbeque area.
We have table tennis, pool, darts, petang (boules), badminton, use of neighbour's tennis court, old but roadworthy bikes, fishing rods. Materials for raft making or perhaps a den in the woods. A pottery/art studio where you can have a try.
Feed the goats, ducks. Play with the friendly dog and cats or watch the deer drink from the lake.
Coast/Beach
Beaches at Royan or Cap Ferrat are about 90 mins away.
Locally there are many small river beaches where bathing is safe and canoes or kayaks can be hired. Alternatively a trip to the coast is one and a half hours away.
Golf
18-hole golf courses at Perigueux & Angoleme are both about 30 mins away. Also a 9 hole course locally at Pilac (15 mins)
Special interest holidays
For those of you interested in pottery we have a purpose built pottery studio with 2 wheels, tools & materials, work tables and a kiln, where you can try your hand,and receive expert advice should you need it.

Airports: Bergerac 30 mins, Bordeaux 90 mins.
limouges 2hrs, angouleme 1hr.
Channel: Calais 10 hrs.

The village where you can buy bread has a bar and the best sea food resturant in the area is 5 mins walk.

Bertric Burée: The area around Bertric Burée is rich in history with many interesting chateaux and bastide towns within easy reach. Locally there are many small river beaches where bathing is safe and canoes or kayaks can be hired. Alternatively a trip to the coast is one and a half hours away. Riberac town with its own wealth of history and beauty, offers many other facilities including banks, supermarkets, small interesting shops, a sports stadium with tennis courts and 3 swimming pools, and many inviting restaurants. Its market, every Friday morning, is the largest in Perigord and often has musicians or drama groups performing in its centre. There are one or two nightclubs and the bars often have musical soirees to suit most tastes, and visitors are greeted with a warm welcome. Whatever you choose, relaxing, or fishing by the lake, swimming or cycling, eating out or exploring our countryside, we assure you of a happy and memorable holiday.

Payment: This may be made in UK Pounds/Sterling. A deposit of 20% secures any booking (subject to availability) which is non returnable. The balance is payable 6 weeks prior to the commencement of your stay.plus £100 security deposit.

About the owner
Having retired early from our professions as electronic engineer and primary school teacher we combined our love of France and people in creating a very successful and rewarding life style in our holiday rentals. We've met lots of delightful folk, many of whom return yearly. Our 'giteurs' are assured a happy & memorable holiday with barbecues and entertaining boule games to introduce families. We also respect the quieter folk who come to our 'mini paradise' to relax with good food, wine and a library of books.'Out of season we enjoy exploring France & Spain in our camper,or winter travelling to far flung places.I work in local schools and run a fun ceramics course for adults.Mike enjoys a technical challenge. We enjoy badminton and hinder the locals in petang matches. Both love food &wine
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We found our niche here after much traveling around Southern France in our camper.Good climate,beautiful scenery, and close to amenities .This was 14 years ago and we still love it here. French and English friends often pop in to share an aperitif, a chat and say 'bonjour 'and we enjoy many entertaining 'soirees'together. Although set in our own valley, we are just 1km from our very friendly bakers and excellent inexpensive restaurant. The main town Riberac is just 7 km. away with its small bars & restaurants to suit all tastes A cultural centre it hosts art galleries with innovative exhibitions. Each village has a summer fete all having a different theme, each one boasting the best firework display. The 60's side shows are not to be missed! We are happy to advise and recommend on visits.
Unique benefits of the property
I have a small 'atelier' where anyone can try their hand at clay work, be it building, throwing, or just playing.Paints are here too and children can try other creative skills.The games room is a good outlet for the energetic with table tennis, badminton etc. Our neighbour invites you to use his tennis court and will often give you a game and an aperitif! For the restful, good fishing with golden, common and mirror carp, crucian and perch can be had.The lake is away from the swimming pool so noisy fun makers do not disturb. In 15 acres there is always a place in a hammock or lounger to siesta all the time. You can walk jog cycle or horse ride in the beautiful surrounding countryside.Fridays boast one of the biggest markets in Perigord,7 km away, being colourful, musical and entertaining.
