Enjoying stunning views from its huge rooftop terrace, Villa Morrison is at the edge of the pretty village of Palaja which is 15 minutes from Carcassonne and to the Canal du Midi. The local amenities of Palaja include a small supermarket, pharmacy, hairdresser, post office, tabac, baker and doctors. There is also a tennis court and football pitch and children’s play area. The medieval city of Carcassonne is a lively destination, with lots of cafes, restaurants and outdoor live entertainment during the year. The Canal du Midi, a world heritage site, meanders through the centre of Carcassonne, flowing out to the Mediterranean via small villages on its way. There are also nice canalside restaurants and hire boats available. The Mediterranean, wonderful seaports, beaches and great seafood restaurants, is only 1hour away, as Spain and the ski resorts of Cambre D'Aze and Puigmal in the Pyrenees. Lake Cavayere in a lovely setting at 2km beach and outdoor activities is just a 10 minute drive.

Outside, our guests are welcome to use our 4 large gardens and orchard. There is garden furniture, BBQ, 7.5 metres x 3.5 pool for Willow Occupants only.There are also patio areas.
There are 1 acre of gardens, and the top area there is chickens hens and ducks.
Coast/Beach
The lovely 22 hectare Lake of Cavayere known as "Carcassonne Plage" is 10 minute drive. It has 300 metres of good beach which is safe for children. Other activities available here are canoeing, fishing and a really good assault course for all ages. There are also shower facilities, picnic areas, football and volleyball pitches and equipment hire.
Skiing
The ski resorts in the Pyrenees of Cambre D'Aze, Puigmal are a 1.5 hour drive and Font Romeu is a 2 hour drive.
Travel
The airport at Carcassonne is only a 12 minute drive from the Palaja. There are daily flights via Ryanair from the UK, Ireland and Belgium. The airports of Perpignan, Montpellier and Toulouse are 1.5 hour drive away and have daily flights to and from the UK and other countries. A car, motorbike or bicycle is necessary to get to the gites.
Distances
The pretty village of Palaja is a leisurely 10 min stroll from the property The medieval city of Carcassonne is 10 min drive and has a abundance of shops, museums, cafe bars, restaurants. Carcassonne also has its own 12th century fortress, which is a superb place to visit. It is rich in Cathar hisotry and is mentioned in books such The Albigensian Crusade and The Labyrinth.
Further details
Carcassonne has its own Australian Park which has many native Australian animal species to see. There is also a Bird & Wolf Park. For some, wine tasting maybe of interest - the area is famous for its vineyards. There are great wines from the Cotes de Malepere which is west of Carcassonne. This vineyard makes wonderful ruby coloured wine combining Grenache & Syrah with the famous Merlot & Cabernet.
Canal du Midi & the Cite de Carcassonne are both UNESCO World Heritage sites.

30% deposit required on booking either gite and the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.
Ask owner for her website to view other pics. Security deposit of £150 required on arrival.
Deposit returned 10-14 days after departure.

There is a red journal that previous guests have so kindly written containing all the places, restaurants etc they have visited which is a must to read.
