Recently restored luxury 16th century Farmhouse with exposed beams, wooden/tiled floors beautiful fireplaces with wood burner and private overground swimming pool. Spacious accommodation for a luxurious French vacation. All facilities for self catering holiday includes all linen and towels, DVD, Satellite TV, dishwasher etc. There is a recently restored 3 bedroom, one storey barn adjacent to the farmhouse which is available to rent together or separately (see reference FR2487). Nearest beach at La Faut sur Mer approx. 40mins drive. Il de Re and La Rochelle 50-60mins. Man made beaches (lakes with sand and great restaurants at Sigourney approx. 10min drive and Chantonnay approx 15-20mins drive.
Golf
Award winning golf course 40mins away at La Roche sur Yon.
Travel
La Rochelle airport is a 50 minute drive, Nantes 1 hour, Poitiers 1 hour and Limoges 1.5 hours. Ryanair offer excellent low cost fares to La Rochelle, Poitiers and Nantes.
3 hours easy drive from St Malo.
Distances
Nearest villages St Sulpice en Pareds and Thouarsais Bouildroux 1km each with bar and shop, La Caillere 2.5km with supermarket, bars, butchers, bakers, petrol,etc. Nearest large town La Chataingeraie approx. 7km. Historic town of Fontenay le Comte 20km which has a thriving market every Saturday morning.
Further details
St Sulpice en Pareds is ideally situated in the Southern Vendee, South-West France. There are local bars approx. 1km and 2.5km and great restaurants at Bazoges-en-Pareds (1.5km) Vouvant (8km) and the lakes near Sigourney (4km). Recommended restaurants are in our welcome pack. Beaches and the bustling fishing town of La Rochelle are just 45/50 minutes drive.
La Rochelle is France's 2nd largest boat building port and the historic Vieux Port remains largely unchanged. A daily fish market can be found in the old town until 12.00 midday. The port is very attractive and waterside cafes and restaurants offer a relaxing break. Next to the Maritime Museum is Europe's largest aquarium which is open 365 days a year and has a large selection of fish from highly coloured tropical types to eels and sharks.
Futuroscope is situated near Poitiers, it combines latest cinematic developments with the entertainment and fun of a theme park. There are a dozen or so main attractions comprising: some of the largest cinema screens in the world (7 storeys high), 3D special effects, flight simulators, cinema seats on hydraulic pedestals, all around cinema with picture that extends underneath you, 360 degree cinema screens, huge curved screens etc.
Venise Vert is the canal system the Vendee is famous for. There are numerous places where small rowing boats can be hired (with or without guides).
Puy de Fou is well worth a visit, by day there is a theme park which includes medieval jousting, villages with traditional crafts, and actors dressed in the period of the day. The highlight is a twice daily display of falconry. Every show is sold out in the height of summer, but tickets can be booked in advance.
